It’s Friday which means it’s time to relax and have fun with family and friends. And here are our recommendations on what to do over the weekend.

Et les Michel chantaient

Saturday evening this weekend (5 August), starts with a Musical evening before the fireworks by the group “Et les Michel chantaient” (performing hits by Michel Sardou, Michel Fugain, Michel Delpech, etc.) in Jardin Exotique at 7.45 pm.

Than at 9.30 pm International musical fireworks competition organised by the Mairie de Monaco in Port Hercule and Port de Monaco continues with the performance of team USA.

This is an actual annually-prized contest of top-quality pyrotechnic displays, lasting up to about 20 minutes each. Competing firework manufacturers are selected by the Municipal Council after receiving their applications. A very powerful sound system is installed over the whole area of Port Hercule, allowing spectators to fully enjoy these exceptional shows from “Quai Albert 1er”. For more information visit the event webpage.

"Les Musicales"

But don’t leave the Port de Monaco right after the fireworks end shooting, stay a little longer and at at 10 p. m. you’ll enjoy “Les Musicales” – Tribute to AC / DC, organised by Monaco City Hall. Launched in the summer of 2004, these free evenings organized by the Animation Department of the City Hall of Monaco meet constant success, in a festive and warm atmosphere, with a mixed public of residents and locals at each concert. Further information:  +377 93 15 06 02

Kool & the Gang

Another music event on Saturday is the concert of the group Kool & the Gang at the Salle des Étoiles on the 5th of August 2017 for the Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival! Founded in 1964, Kool & the Gang is the oldest active R&B group and also one of the most famous. On stage Kool and his Gang continue to light up the crowds wherever they perform. After more than 50 years of travelling around the world, Kool & the Gang are always recognized for their excellent live performances. The group now consists of 12 members. They guarantee the authenticity of Kool & the Gang music, which has inspired several generations of artists. Their compositions are still among the most copied in the music industry.

OPMC Palais Princier

And on Sunday in Monaco you can listen to a Symphonic concert by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marc Albrecht with David Guerrier, trumpet on Sunday 6 August, at 9.30 pm Palais Princier – Cour d’HonneurOn the programme: Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Ludwig Van Beethoven.

In 1959, His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III and the Conductor, Louis Frémaux, inaugurated a summer season which, from year to year, has become a must for fans of international music. In July and August the Prince receives in the Court of Honor of the Palais, transformed into a magical musical venue, the outdoor concerts given by the Orchestra surrounded by prestigious soloists.
The Prince’s Palace concerts begin at 9:30 pm and continue until around 11 pm.

12th International Organ Festival

And the 12th International Organ Festival is still on, with the improvisation by Pierre Pincemaille to accompany a screening of the film “Le Cabinet du Docteur Caligari” (“The Cabinet of Dr Caligari “) by Robert Wiene, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs on Sunday 6 August, at 5 pm Cathédrale de Monaco. Further information:  +377 98 98 83 03

Last summer, Nice had less reason to laugh. The attack on the Promenade des Anglais cancelled in 2016 the “Plages du rire” or Laughter Beaches...

And if you don’t mind taking a ride to Nice, “Plages du rire” or Laughter Beaches, will resume from 6 to 9 August. Elie Semoun will be there this time,  and Artus will showcase his talents as an outstanding comedian after shining on Dancing with the Stars, then pass the torch to Camille Lellouche. Meanwhile, there will be a song interlude with The Ketanou Street. Tickets range from 25€ to 60€.

Also not far from Monaco there are two music festivals going on: Music Festival of Menton and Cimiez’s cloister nights.
