Summer-2017: entertaining children during school holidays in Monaco continued
As the school year is almost over in this article we will continue to tell you about options for the summer holidays.
School holidays start in Monaco on 1 July. This means that parents need to decide how to occupy their children over the next two months. We have already introduced you to the entertainment canters operating in Monaco. Today, we will continue to study summer camp options where children can not only relax, but also spend their time wisely.
Kids Club of Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort
This summer, not only children of Monaco residents, but also those of Monaco guests are being offered entertainment. Hotels traditionally have a children’s program for their clients, like Kids Club at Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. It is open from 2 July to 1 September, from 11 am to 7 pm for children aged 3 to 12. Braiding Brazilian bracelets, molding plasticine, drawing on pebbles and making a herbarium – these are just some of the activities that young people can engage in.
They could also practice sport: gymnastics, children’s football, ping-pong, swimming pool games, petanque with plastic balls, badminton. On a rainy day, children will be offered some indoor activities: making puzzles, watching cartoons and others.
The cost varies depending on the number of hours your child spends in the kid’s club.
11:00 am to 7 pm (age 6 to 12) – 45 euros/day (the price includes meals in Las Brisas restaurant, twice a day).
2:30 pm to 7 pm (age 3 to 12) – 30 euros/day. The price includes an afternoon snack at 4 pm.
The kids club is available to customers of the SPA during their treatments and subscribers of the Entertainment Zone.
Monaco Yacht Club
Monaco guests and residents can also enroll their children in the Monaco Yacht Club available for ages 6 to 18. Your child will be taught sailing, scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking. The program includes a visit to the Oceanographic Museum and, just this year, a life saving safety course on the water. This topic will be taught by the Maritime Police. The courses run from 10 July to 25 August.
Classes for children aged 6-7 are taught from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The price of a weekly course is 220 euros. But you can choose as many as 8 weeks.
For children aged 8-12 classes are held twice a day in the morning and in the afternoon. The cost is 440 euros / week (lunch included).
For children older than 12, classes are held all day long. A one-week course thus costs 500 euros.

Fun Camp
Last summer Monaco opened its kids Fun Camp. According to the organizers, its program promotes the multilateral development of the child, touching upon such concepts as self-esteem, team spirit, boosting individual abilities and creativity. Fun Camp is a balance between culture, nutrition and sports.
The program includes, but is not limited to: various culinary workshops in different restaurants of the Principality, visiting the zoo, various parks, museums, singing and dancing, playing tennis, mini golf, boating and much more. The centre is open from 4 July to 7 September from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm for children aged from 4 to 12. A weekly stay on a half day basis before lunch will cost you 250 euros. A weekly stay on a full day basis – 350 euros. One day – 75 euros.

Hoof in Cap
Hoof in Cap in Cap d’Ail holds its horse riding courses for children and teenagers. This location’s train station is 15 minutes away from Monaco and classes are held against the backdrop of the sea and mountain landscape. Summer courses start here from 10 July to 9 September. The program includes: horseback riding, walking the horses, some theory, looking after horses and much more.
The cost of the course is 250 euros per week. Pony rides are available for children aged older than two and a half on Wednesdays at 5 pm and Saturdays at 11 am at an hourly rate of 20 euros. Advanced booking is recommended. For all additional information please call 06 64 11 17 44
Tennis Club of Cap d’Ail
From 3 July to 1 September, over the school holidays, the Tennis club of Cap d’Ail is holding classes for children aged from 4 to 14. A morning class from 9 am to 12 pm on a week day will cost you 130 euros. A full day from 9 am to 5:30 pm, including other sports on top of tennis, will cost 190 euros including lunch.
For those seriously passionate about tennis and keen to practice it over the summer, there is an intensive course at a price of 230 euros a week.
The club of Cap d’Ail also offers a combination of tennis and sailing at a rate of 260 euros/week.
There is one more option for novice tennis players: Monte Carlo Country Club with individual and group classes for children. The club also has its squash courts. A 10 day subscription will cost you 270 euros. For more information, please call 04 93 41 30 15.
‘The Forbidden City in Monaco’ presents Youth Workshops at the Grimaldi Forum
Youth Workshops from 17-28 July 2017
Each educational workshop (with a maximum of 25 children per group) includes a fun visit to “The Forbidden City in Monaco, Lives of the Emperors and Empresses of China” exhibition, and a visual arts course designed to develop creativity with different activities inspired by the exhibition.

LEARN TO DRAW A PORTRAIT
Children will draw on Chinese paper. They will begin the outline of a character in a sitting position with a pencil and fill it in with felt markers and colored pencils.
Tuesday, 18 & 25 July
MY FIRST PARCHEMIN
On Chinese paper, children will learn to draw and compose a landscape in pencil, created with one single shape in different pre-cut sizes.
Wednesday 19 & 26 July
EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN ASTROLOGICAL SIGN
The children will make art based on their Chinese astrology sign. On paper, with an HB pencil, they will draw the contour of their animal according to their year of birth, the shading and calligraphy will be done in black Chinese ink.
Thursday 20 & 27 July
DISCOVER THE FORBIDDEN CITY
Children will learn to draw the architecture of the Forbidden City. They will draw the different parts that characterize the architecture of the Forbidden City on paper, using conical and elliptical shapes.
Friday 21 & 28 July
CREATED WITH MANY HANDS
The children will collectively create an installation that will be exhibited and presented in the Grimaldi Forum hall during the “Forbidden City” exhibition. This installation will bring together different portrayals of a Chinese landscape drawn with charcoal.

Monday 17 & 24 July
LEARN TO DRAW A PORTRAIT
Children will begin by making the outline of a character in pencilbefore drawing the pattern that is on the Emperor’s outfit. They will colour in the garment with felt markers and colour in the face with coloured pencils.

CREATE A CHINESE LANDSCAPE
On Chinese paper, children will compose and draw a landscape in pencil. The coloring in will be done with colored pencils in pastel tones. Using different nuances will enable them to respect and portray the depth of their landscape.
Wednesday, July 19 & 26

Working from a Tangka painting, the children will begin their drawings in pencil. They will compose the work before beginning the exercise in order to place their different characters. The work will be done on Japanese paper and colored in with felt markers and colored pencils.
Friday 21 & 28 July
CREATED WITH MANY HANDS
The children will make a collective work which will then be exhibited and presented in the hall of the Grimaldi Forum. This year, two pieces will be created. For the first week, children will learn to draw a colored, Japanese motif on a kite. For the second week, the children will draw a Japanese landscape which will be presented as a triptych.

West End in Monaco
Developed as an opportunity to explore, and to absorb ideas from those at the top of their game, the course is open to students between the ages of 11 and 18 and allows students to work closely with performers, directors, choreographers and producers, inspiring each individual to become the best that they can be at this very specific style of performance, whilst also providing incomparable opportunities to strengthen confidence and improve on all manner of performance and communication skills.
Students will also work closely with Leanne Harwood. Direct from London, she has extensive experience in film, TV & musical theatre. Leanne trained at Guildford School of Acting and her credits include The Crown (Netflix) the recent West End revival of La Cage Aux Folles starring Graham Norton, UK tours of Grease, Footloose, and most recently Theatre Royal Stratford East’s acclaimed production of Oh, What A Lovely War! starring Caroline Quentin.
West End in Monaco will be curated by contemporary musical theatre favorites Paul Spicer & Matt Firth.

A.C.E. Catholic Summer Camp for Kids
Throughout the summer and during the school year, our Association accepts children from 6 to 16 years old, on Wednesday afternoons and on Saturday afternoons. Many activities take place during these clubs. Weekends and longer stays are also offered. Snow days are offered during the February holidays. In July, two stays are organized at our summer camp. Moments of sharing, friendship, joy and faith.
Our children’s summer camp is in Selonnet, a pretty village in the Alpes-de-haute-Provence. The Val Fleuri summer camp is located in the heart of the countryside and offers many possibilities for walks, outdoor games… but it also offers various activities: tree climbing, rafting, swimming… activities adapted to children who are supervised by BAFA graduates who are members of the ACE-CVAV. A camp is always an important time of sharing and friendship.

Supervision: The graduate animators (BAFA) are part of the movement CŒURS VAILLANTS and AMES VAILLANTES (Catholic Action for Childhood).
