The Snowflake Bookshop Cafe, or just “Snowflake”, is the only independent bookstore in Monaco. It opened its doors a year ago and has been working on the development of its original service concept ever since. The interior is cosy, with books and other “domestic” attributes immersing customers in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Books are selected with great care, according to the time of year and spheres of interest. Victoria Sundstrom-Olivier, the owner of the bookstore, is trying to meet all her customers’ wishes by adding new books to her library weekly.
In addition to a good read, Snowflake also offers foreign language lessons. Taught classes and “language workshops” are held in different formats, ranging from discussions on various topics, language games, vocabulary practice, to phonetic and grammar exercises. Groups are organized by level of language skills and common interests. The idea of teaching foreign languages in a bookstore crossed its owner’s mind thanks to her bilingual origins and her passion for travel.
You can learn French, English or Russian in the shop starting from the age of six. Those who are just looking for some cosy atmosphere and inspirational energy, are offered tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and other drinks and snacks that can be enjoyed in the store’s living room.
According to Victoria, Snowflake’s first year showed a high interest in various workshops. Entire families become the shop’s loyal customers. Come and immerse yourself in the world of books and one of the most cosy, intimate places in the city.
