1. Heesen Yachts Project Nova launched and named Home
On April 14, Heesen Yachts has launched its 50m Project Nova (YN 17850) at the Dutch yard’s facility in Oss. Named Home, she is an example of the company’s approach to yachting: a high-performance and comfortable Fast Displacement yacht with reduced environmental impact, wrapped in a design package with exterior lines by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and interior styling by Italian designer Cristiano Gatto, appointed by the owner.
Sold in June 2016, Home is the world’s first fast displacement with hybrid propulsion. In this case, ‘hybrid’ means that the yacht can draw on two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. Either or both sources can be used at the same time to provide more flexible power management and better efficiency along with less noise and vibration. Up to speeds of 9 knots in electrical hybrid mode, the yacht will be as silent as when at anchor.
2. Yachting Developments Project 1015 hull and superstructure installed
New Zealand yard Yachting Developments Project 1015 is nearing an advanced stage of construction. Measuring 38.7m, this all-carbon motor sportsfisher is scheduled for launch in the third quarter of 2017.
3. New renderings of 102m concept Calibre
French design studio, MUB-Mahjoub El Mahmoudi, has presented its concept, 102m Calibre, in October 2015. Now we have received new renderings of this project, deserved to appear in a high-speed chase scene in a Hollywood blockbuster.
4. 34m Tecnomar yacht catches fire in Mykonos
Three days after the report about the fire incidents in Barcelona and Marmaris, involving numerous superyachts, social media footage surfaced today shows that yet another superyacht has been engulfed in flames.
The information remains scarce at the moment, but it is confirmed that 34m yacht Saint burnt to the ground last night in Mykonos. The cause of the fire is unknown yet there are speculations it could come from the engine room.
5. Yalla spotted in Anguilla
73m superyacht Yalla has been recently spotted in Anguilla. Built by Italian yard CRN in 2014, the vessel is reportedly owned by Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris.
6. Couach Yachts delivers 4400 Fast Fly
Launched at the end of 2016, the fully custom, fast-planing 44.8-metre 4400 Fast Fly was recently delivered to her owners. All interior and exterior design, as well as naval architecture, was carried out in-house at the shipyard.
The fully customised yacht is the sister ship to 49.5m M/Y La Pellegrina and 49.3m M/Y Belongers. Tailoring the yacht’s interior was a particular focus for the project, which features a combination of bronze, oak, treated leathers, engraved glass, engraved marble, Dacryl® with copper inlay, and metallic resin. Many decorative elements were created specifically for the yacht, hand in hand with the client and the captain.
