Monaco Pavillion in Astana attracts attention

This year Kazakhstan will host the grand universal Expo, with about a hundred countries participating, and almost five million visitors expected to flock to the over 25 hectares of land.

For three months, countries, international organisations and enterprises will exchange ideas on the current energy issues in the Kazakh capital. The Principality intends to put forth its expertise in the field of renewable energy, particularly in terms of their relationship with the ocean.

Monaco and the Ocean

The Monaco Pavillion was created by the Milanese company Simmetrico and overseen by Prince Albert II, and incorporates a few replicas of buildings found in the Principality.

The key attraction in the sculpture is the Reflect on the Future (Réfléchir l’avenir) room that holds a collection of Prince Albert quotes and an impressive installation; 36 articulated blades that mimic the movement of the ocean, that serve as a surface on which to project a film on the relationship between Monaco and the marine environment.

Another room is dedicated to the sea extension project, which includes a model of the future structure.

Also included in the program, is a virtual visit of the Principality and there is a renewable energy bicycle on display created by the students of the Lycée Technique et Hôtelier.

On Monaco’s National Day, the 25th of June, there will be a screening of the film Solar impulse, the impossible world tour.

The pavilion has actually already opened its doors for a ‘soft opening’, where around six hundred lucky people were able to view the installation on June 4th.

On the first day of opening, His Majesty King Felipe VI honoured us with a visit to Monaco’s Pavilion.  The King of Spain was welcomed by Alexandre Bocquillon, Deputy Commissioner of the Pavilion.

On this day, 2,000 people visited Monaco’s Pavilion, in which they showed great interest.  The scenography presented by the Principality highlights the very close links between Monaco and the theme of the EXPO, “Energy of the Future.”  This seemed to attract the most attention from all the visitors to Monaco’s Pavilion.
