Prince Albert II moved after Monaco become League 1 Champions

Very impressed after the 8th title by AS Monaco, Prince Albert II described the performance of the team on Canal +: “After an extraordinary season, this final victory at home is the culmination of many things. Four and a half years ago we were in league 2, we now find ourselves the champions of France. It has been an extraordinary time in the champions league. This group is extraordinary, talented and very good-spirited, led by a great coach. It is the job of a whole team, also of the staff, and the supporters. I think this team has a tremendous talent with young people who can still progress.”

Concerning the future, the Prince was clear: “They cannot all stay. There will be some departures, necessarily, and some new arrivals, but I hope that we will keep moving forward.”

Not only Prince Albert II was at the stadium to support his favorite football team but some of other members of Princely family such as Pierre Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hannover with her boyfriend.

Prince Albert II attends Catholic service by the Patriarch of Alexandria

In the presence of the Sovereign, the Patriarch gave a historical perspective on the small Coptic Catholic community.

His Beatitude Ibrahim Isaac Sedrak, Patriarch of Alexandria of the Coptic Catholics was hosted by the Principality on the 16th of May (an initiative from the l’Oeuvre d’Orient Monaco). He was received by an audience which included the Sovereign, in the presence of Bishop Bernard Barsi, archbishop of Monaco and Patrick Lebanon, general delegate of L’Oeuvre d’Orient.

Ibrahim I. Sedrak and the Archbishop of Monaco then concelebrated a Mass for Christians of the East, which brought together many faithful people in the Cathedral in the presence of the Prince.

This religious service was followed by a lecture about Christians in Egypt at the Salle des Variétés. This is at the heart of the news, after the recent visit from Pope Francis to Egypt and the two murderous attacks which targeted Coptic churches during the Holy Week. The Patriarch gave a historical insight into the small Coptic Catholic community, which barely accounts for 0.3% of the population but which has a visible presence in Egyptian society through its social services, dispensaries, orphanages and Francophone schools, open to all and welcoming nearly 65% Muslim pupils.

Prince Albert II of Monaco’s casual visit to the Festival of Peas

Not a stately visit, but a casual one. His Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco paid tribute to the Peas Festival of Cérons as a visitor and enjoyed different wines from Gironde.

After the Prince’s extraordinary visit to Cérons, a small commune in Gironde, famous for its liquors, Xavier Perromat, owner of the Château de Cérons, confided that: “He is a very nice man who came to the Peas Festival of Cérons, a village festival.”

This visit remained a secret until the last few of hours of the Prince of Monaco’s stay, anyone who knew about the visit kept it a secret. Prince Albert “had booked this rendezvous with the village of Cérons. He did not want to advertise it, he came discreetly, it was a friendly visit.”

The Prince was able to enjoy a party with the village’s specialties: cake, meat and peas of course. “It was very well organized by the association and there were wines from the producers of Cérons,” which Albert II was able to appreciate as an accompaniment to all these dishes. “It was very family friendly and kind. What is nice is its simplicity, it speaks to everyone, without any dishonesty.” concluded Xavier Perromat.
