Prince Albert Visits the Castle of his Ancestors in Duras

Prince Albert of Monaco traveled to the castle of his ancestors in the village of Duras (Lot-et-Garonne) for the first time on Tuesday. His ancestor Louise-Félicité-Victoire D’Aumont, married the Prince of Monaco in the 18th century.

“I am anxious to keep the memory of those who have preceded me alive, and I appreciate going every year to territories which are linked to my ancestors in order to meet their elected representatives and inhabitants,” said the Prince, under a radiant sun.

Louise-Félicité-Victoire D’Aumont, Duchess of Mazarin, from the Durfort-Duras family, became Louise Félicité of Monaco after marrying the Prince of Monaco, future Honoré IV, on the 15th of July 1777. During his visit, Albert inaugurated the “Louise-Félicitéde Monaco” room in the village hall, which dates back to the 15th century. He then crossed the village, while several hundred people looked on, before visiting the castle, which now belongs to the municipality.

Princess Caroline attends CHPG Charity Lunch at the Yacht Club

In the presence of Princess Caroline of Hanover, who is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the CHPG Foundation, Didier Gamerdinger, the Government Counsellor for Social Affairs and Health, and Patrick Bini, Director of the Princess Grace Hospital, hosted a private lunch at the Yacht Club, under the direction of Daniela Boutsen, to honour the hospital’s generous donors.

The luncheon, chaired by Roger Shine, Chair of the Friends of the CHPG Strategy Committee, was an opportunity to thank and pay tribute to donors like Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Daryl Foster and Hani Farsi.

Prince Albert Visits Bordeaux

On Wednesday the 5th of July, the Sovereign Prince began his visit to Bordeaux with the exhibition “Montaigne-Matignon”, created in collaboration with the palace archives. He then went to the former Town Hall, today a place of prayer for the Dominican community, to unveil a commemorative plaque, testifying to the presence of Jacques de Matignon during his mandate.

Then, during his speech at the city hall, HSH the Prince recalled that Bordeaux had three former Mayors among his ancestors: Jean de Durfort from 1480 to 1495, James II of Matignon in 1585 who succeeded Michel de Montaigne and Charles de Matignon, Mayor of Bordeaux for 2 years after the death of his father in 1597.

In the afternoon, HSH the Prince was welcomed by Mr. Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux, for a visit to the Citédu Vin, a unique place dedicated to wine as a cultural, universal and living heritage.

Prince Albert keeps his promise and visits artist Bernard Bezzina in Italy

Last September, Prince Albert Il went to Saint-Tropez to visit the summer 2016 exhibition by sculptor Bernard Bezzina, entitled Divition III, and gathered five monumental works. At that exhibition, the Sovereign promised to visit the artist’s studios in Italy. That promise wasn’t broken. At the end of last week, Prince Albert II, accompanied by some close collaborators, took a two-day private trip to Tuscany.

He was welcomed by Bernard Bezzina and his wife, and with the utmost discretion, the Sovereign visited Pietrasanta, the city of art par excellence. A journey of culture, friendship and simplicity.

Prince Albert was able to observe all the stages of creating a sculpture by the artist Bernard Bezzina.

Prince Albert welcomes the “Mercantour Dream Warriors

The “Mercantour Dream Warriors” rally, organized by the association “Beyond our handicaps” (Au-delà de nos handicaps) arrived in the Principality on Saturday 1 July 2017. After 6 days and 240 km traveled between Saint-Dalmas de Tende and Menton, the 12 travelers (9 wounded soldiers and 3 civilians, including a Monegasque), showed courage and strength and were warmly welcomed at the Place du Palais. In the presence of HSH the Prince, General Lebel (organizing association), as well as representatives from different Monegasque entities, the Monegasque Motor Disabled Persons Association and their families, the participants arrived on their “Mobiles dream” (electric quadricycles). “Beyond our handicaps” is an association whose objective is to support and promote the reconstruction, independence and social integration of persons with disabilities in the civil and military worlds.

Wedding of Prince Ernst August and Ekaterina Malysheva

On July 07, 2017, Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo, Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Charlotte Casiraghi attended the pre-wedding dinner for Prince Ernst August and Ekaterina Malysheva at the Brauhaus Restaurant in Hannover. Prince Ernst August of Hanover got married with the Russian fashion designer Ekaterina Malysheva with a simple civil ceremony in Hanover City Hall on Thursday. On July 8, the religious wedding ceremony took place at the Marktkirche church in Hannover.

In the meantime, Ernst-August of Hanover, Husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco refuses that his son marries his fiancée – Russian Fashion designer Ekaterina Malysheva.

“The decision was not easy for me, because it concerns my son. But I am compelled to preserve the interests of the House of Hanover and of the property, including cultural property, which has been the family property for centuries, ” Ernst-August of Hanover told the press.
