Prince Albert makes a surprise visit for sick children

The Prince’s surprise visit: a lovely gift which helped children from Paris, Marseille and Nice forget their illnesses for a few hours.

On the L’Albatros and Caraudelles terraces, seventy children attended the first day of the 75th Formula 1 Grand Prix on Saturday. They received a surprise visit from Prince Albert II. A few hours earlier, Stéphane Valeri, counselor for Minister of Health and Social Affairs (for a few more days) also visited the children.  “The sovereign personally supports us. And Advisor Valeri does as well, since the association’s inception in 2011,” emphasized Carla Shechter. A nice gift for young people aged 10-21 with cancer, liver disease or other difficult illnesses. All the children were invited by the Monaco Liver Disorder association, whose honorary president is Princess Charlene.  The dynamic founder and Vice-President, Carlo Shechter, explained: “We organized this day to give a little happiness to the children by offering them an exceptional gift. The terraces were generously made available to us. The association pays for parking for accompanying parents, a buffet, small souvenirs and gifts.”

Grand Prix Monaco

The invitation has been offered at every Grand Prix for the past six years and the number of children grows every year. Coming from Paris, Marseille and Nice, the young people have benefited from a welcome which allowed them to fully enjoy the show.

A gift for her foundation

Bianca Senna is mainly invested in the Instituto Ayrton Senna created in 1994 by her mother Viviane, in memory of the champion. The Foundation provides access to education for 1.5 million disadvantaged children annually in Brazil. A cause which the Accor group, owner of Fairmont Monte-Carlo, aided with a check for $10,000 on Wednesday night.

Seven F1 drivers trade the track for the catwalk

At the Amber Fashion Show, they paraded under the eyes of Pamela Anderson and Prince Albert II.

What’s the common thread between Pamela Anderson, Greg Le Millionnaire, former Miss Laury Thilleman and Prince Albert II? At first glance, not much. But they were all part of the 2017 Amber Fashion Show. Amateurs know that this is THE charity event of the Grand Prix. Similar to what the amFAR gala is at the Cannes Film Festival, applied to the F1 world. The highlight of every year’s show is to see the Grand Prix drivers on the catwalk.

Jackie Stewart as the Godfather

Seven drivers sported Apsley suits: Daniel Kvyat, Esteban Ocon, Marcus Ericsson, Stoffel Vandoorne, Pascal Wehrlein, Marc Gené and Charles Leclerc. Seven “youngsters” from the Fl, sponsored by race veteran Sir Jackie Stewart, Dean of the Formula One World Champions. The British man has created Race Against Dementia. An association that raises funds for Alzheimer’s research. An illness which affects his wife Helen. It is this cause that the creator of the Amber Fashion Show, Sonia Irvine, particularly wanted to support this year. And the bids definitely supported the cause, with 1.9 million euros donated by an admirer to rub shoulders with legend Jackie Stewart.
