SUMMARY:Exhibition "Approach of a poet\, Act II" in Musée Jean Cocteau
DESCRIPTION:Following the first part\, entitled Démarche d’un poète (Approach of a poet\, act) with reference to Jean Cocteau’s key work\, the second part (Act II) completes the introduction of this approach by integrating Jean Cocteau’s passionate links with stage. \nJean Cocteau\, always in avant-gardes\, is looking for a modern and popular theater mixing tragedy\, comedy\, vaudeville and boulevard. He thus participates actively in the operation of destruction of the classical and academic heritage following the First World War\, by a frenzied mixture of genres\, including the noble genres (ballet\, theater) and popular\, including jazz\, cinema\, the circus and the music hall\, for which he has a sincere and well-informed taste. \nThis new course gives way to the crazy and sparkling comedy with The Parade and The Married of the Eiffel Tower\, but also tragedy\, dance and multiple artistic collaborations.

SUMMARY:Michel Blazy exhibition in Villa Sauber
DESCRIPTION:Michel Blazy exhibition from Saturday 16 December to Sunday 18 March from 10 am to 6 pm Nouveau Musée National – Villa Sauber. \nThe NMNM presents at the Villa Sauber a new monumental work by Michel Blazy entitled Collection de Chaussures (2015-2017)\, co-produced by the NMNM and the Monaco Cultural Affairs Department for the last edition of the Venice Biennale. Shoe Collection is made up of a metal structure as a frame\, inside which a light source is diffused and water conveyed\, all serving as food for different species of plants growing in 27 pairs of worn sneakers. \nIn two other rooms are presented works by Michel Blazy from the NMNM collections: Peau de Bête (2011) and Nature Molle (2004)\, which will be activated and presented for the first time in Monaco. \nMichel Blazy\, born in Monaco\, has acquired an international reputation thanks to its installations integrating living materials.  \nThroughout the exhibition\, visitors will be able to follow and document the slow transformation of these works in perpetual change.

SUMMARY:Exhibition of Alfredo Volpi\, The poetics of color
DESCRIPTION:The NMNM presents the very first retrospective in a public institution outside Brazil of Alfredo Volpi: a major Brazilian artist born in Lucca (Italy) in 1896 and who moved to São Paulo’s Cambuci Italian neighborhood in 1898. Alfredo Volpi died in 1988 in São Paulo. \nThe aim of the exhibition is to retrace Volpi’s career\, starting from his early oil paintings in the ’40s – mostly landscapes and ‘cityscapes’ – to the works of the ’50s\, ’60s and ’70s\, in which the same subjects are metamorphosed into colorful geometric compositions\, oneiric archetypes of the façades of buildings and festive banners\, and a humble and poetic ‘algorithm’ that gives Volpi the chance to make infinite color variations on the same subject. \n\nThe exhibition features more than 70 works retracing the history of this independent and self-taught painter\, whose fascination for the Italian early Renaissance\, for Matisse\, Morandi and the sphere of popular culture led him to win the Best National Prize at the 2nd São Paolo Biennale with ‘Di Cavalcanti’\, and intrigued the celebrated English critic Herbert Read\, who described him as an artist “… aware of the general movement\, but who created something contemporary with an indigenous theme: the shapes and colors of Brazilian modern architecture.”\n\nVolpi is probably the most-loved Brazilian artist of the 20th century\, but has remained little known outside of Latin America until now.

DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the 60th birthday of Prince Albert II\, a multisensory show will be offered at the Cathedral of Monaco on the theme of Safeguarding Creation. \nArranged in the form of five “paintings” evoking alternately the Earth\, Water\, Fire\, Air and then the “Celeste”\, “Elements” was conceived as a 30-minute sensory show immersing the viewer in a succession reconstructed environments and projected on the reliefs of the interior of the Cathedral. \nAround the Grand Celebration\, the guiding thread of the musical illustration will represented all the musical entities of the Principality: the Little Singers of the Cathedral\, its two titular Organists\, the choirs of the Opera of Monte-Carlo and the singers of its International Professional Artist-Choir training\, the Monaco Brass training from the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra\, the Children’s Choir from the Rainier III Academy of Music\, the Prince’s Carabiner’s Orchestra\, the Monoïkos Quartet and finally\, a group of ten solo singers present especially for the occasion. \nIn total\, some 150 professional musicians and singers of world renown\, related to the Principality and its service for many years\, will ensure the setting of music images projected on the pillars\, arches and walls of the Cathedral. \nReservations at the Monaco City Hall on presentation of the Monegasque identity card on Thursday 1st and Wednesday 7th March\, from 8.30am to 4pm. Seats are limited.
