SUMMARY:Exhibition "Espinasse 31" in Monaco
DESCRIPTION:“Espinasse 31” is a pop up exposition at the Miami Plage of Monte Carlo on May 12 – October 10. One year after its opening\, the Milanese residency for artists “Espinasse 31” managed to create a network of interconnections that brought its name and its artists to international recognition. \nAfter participating at Scope Miami and Art Basel\, the gallery lands in Monte Carlo\, in the Bay of Larvotto\, enhancing the amazing beauty of the Miami Plage with the artists’ works\, produced in the residency. \n@www.espinasse31.com\nFrom the 12th of May until the 10th of October a temporary exhibition will be set up. During the event\, the most representative artistic creations of Simone Monte\, who won in 2015 the National Geographic Photo Contest with the photograph “The Game”\, will be exhibited. Other artists showcased are Jenny Perez\, chosen by Giorgio Armani for the presentation in Miami of the Capsule collection st_art\, Rodrigo Branco\, Jotape\, Flavio Rossi\, KayOne\, Rolando Adrian Avila\, Carlos Cesar Alves\, Olga Lomaca\, Daniel Tumolillo and Alex Korolkovas\, winner of the Visual Press Award 2017. \n@www.espinasse31.com\nFor all comic fans\, during the exhibition there will be the works of Alex in plexiglass\, depicting the sensual Valentina\, created by Guido Crepax\, symbol of the contemporary femme fatale. For the first time\, there will be the presentation of the Italian duo Urban Solid\, with their original installations and sculptures in plaster and resin: “For us the third dimension\, with its tactile vocation\, symbolizes a complete visual experience. Sculpture is life in motion and allows the observer to interact with the work “. \nThrough photography\, painting and sculpture\, Espinasse 31 has built its cultural identity\, promoting art and stimulating critical thinking among its collectors. \nDuring the exhibition\, it will be possible to buy exclusive gadgets in the temporary pop up store.

SUMMARY:1st Monaco Globe Series
DESCRIPTION:Monaco Globe Series 1-8 June 2018: IMOCA 60 \nAt the beginning of June\, a dozen teams are set to stopover in the Principality for the first time to take the start of a double-hander offshore race on a course that embraces some of the most emblematic marks in the western Mediterranean.  \nOn the programme: 1\,400 nautical miles\, four days and three nights of racing. After the start in Monaco\, the fleet races down Corsica’s west coast before being propelled through the Strait of Bonifacio\, towards the Aeolian Islands\, where they tack in front of Stromboli and head for Palermo in Sicily. The fleet then sets course for the Balearic Islands before returning to Monaco. \nThe Monaco event marks the start of the new IMOCA 2018-2020 championship\, renamed the Globe Series\, with a system of points and weightings over a four-year period. The goal for sailors is to rack-up a maximum number of points to qualify for the big offshore races\, with the Vendée Globe as the holy grail.

SUMMARY:Whit Monday
DESCRIPTION:Whit Monday\, or Pentecost Monday\, is a Christian holiday. It is the day after Pentecost\, also known as Whit Sunday or Whitsunday\, which commemorates the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the disciples of Jesus Christ\, according to the New Testament of the Bible. \nThere are a number of customs associated with Whit Monday. Cheese rolling and throwing competitions are held in some parts of England. In other parts of the country\, Whit walks\, which are parades led by local brass bands\, clergy\, dignitaries and local organizations\, are held. The walks are often concluded by various activities that include competitions\, dancing and food. \nIn the United States some churches organize Whit Monday prayer rallies\, which include prayers and street marches. In France it is a holiday that is respected by many citizens. In 2005 millions of workers stayed at home during Whit Monday\, despite the government’s cancellation of the holiday\, causing a halt in public transport and the closure of many municipal offices. The French government recently reinstated Whit Monday as a public holiday\, while retaining a more flexible Day of Solidarity. \nBackground \nChristian Pentecost commemorates the Holy Spirit’s visit to the apostles who received the “gift of tongues” on the 50th day after Easter.  It also marks the birth of the Christian Church. Although it is not certain when Pentecost was first observed by Christians\, it may have been early as the first century. Pentecost occurs roughly seven weeks after Easter Sunday\, or 50 days after Easter\, including Easter Day. The Easter date depends on the ecclesiastical approximation of the March equinox. Like Pentecost\, Whit Monday is movable because it is determined by the Easter date. \nWhit Monday used to be one of the major annual holidays in Pennsylvania Dutch country in the United States. From around 1835 to just after the Civil War\, Whit Monday was referred to as the “Dutch Fourth of July” in Lancaster\, Pennsylvania\, where people came to eat\, drink and be entertained. Whit Monday was once a public holiday in Ireland and was a bank holiday in the United Kingdom until 1967\, when it was formally replaced by a fixed spring holiday on the last Monday in May in 1971. \nIn some Orthodox churches\, Whit Monday is observed after the date set by the western churches. This is because some Orthodox churches still observe holidays according to the Julian calendar\, which preceded the Gregorian calendar adopted by many western churches. \nSymbols \nWhit Monday gets its English name from Whitsunday\, or Whitsunday\, which referred to the white garments worn on Pentecost by the newly baptized. DESCRIPTION:The Art of Cinema – screening of Michel Khleifi’s film “Wedding in Galilee”\, organized by the Audiovisual Archives of Monaco on Tuesday\, June 5\, at 8:30 pm in Théâtre des Variétés. \nA Palestinian seeks Israeli permission to waive curfew to give his son a fine wedding. The military governor’s condition is that he and his officers attend. The groom berates his father for agreeing. Women ritually prepare the bride; men prepare the groom. Guests gather. The Arab youths plot violence. One Israeli officer swoons in the heat and Arab women take her into the cool house. A thoroughbred gets loose and runs to a mined field; soldiers and Arabs must cooperate to rescue it. As darkness falls\, tensions between army and villagers rise\, and the groom’s wedding-night anger and impotence threaten family dignity and honor. Can cool heads prevail?
