DESCRIPTION:In June 2018 the New National Museum of Monaco (NMNM) will exhibit a series of works by Tom Wesselmann at Villa Paloma. \nFrom Friday 29 June to Thursday 31 January\, from 10 am to 6 pm Nouveau Musée National – Villa Sauber: Tom Wesselmann exhibition – The Promise of Happiness \nNamed The Promise of Happiness\, the exhibition will revolve around the career of this pop art singer\, highlighting his immense contribution to the taboo subject of sexuality. The exhibition takes its title from Stendhal’s celebrated claim that “Beauty is but the promise of happiness.” \nConcentrating on the artist’s portrayal of women\, which has been known to draw fire for its purported objectification\, this exhibition argues for a much more nuanced understanding of the Wesselmann’s rapport with the female subject. Indeed\, through this survey\, a certain sense of female agency will become apparent\, which in itself is symptomatic of a crucial historical shift from Victorian repression to the abundance associated with postwar American consumerism\, as both are described and quite literally embodied in Wesselmann’s work. Long considered one of the key American Pop artists as well as one of its great formal innovators\, Wesselmann’s specific critical contribution to the movement has been a subject of debate for decades. This survey intends to clarify this debate\, locating his prodigious and penetrating contribution to the taboo subject of sexuality\, portrayals thereof\, and its inseparable link with the boundless promise conveyed by the cultural\, material and economic bounty of postwar American society.   \nSource: www.e-flux.com \n

Ten years later\, the Grimaldi Forum thus regains the expertise of exhibition curator Christiane ZIEGLER\, Honorary Director of the Department of Egyptian Antiquities of the Louvre Museum\, Publication Director for the Archaeological Mission of the Louvre Museum in Saqqara (Egypt) and President of the Memphis Archaeology Center. SUMMARY:6th edition of the "Summer Dream" concert
DESCRIPTION:The 6th edition of the “Summer Dream” concert\, organized for the benefit of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation\, will take place on 17 July\, from 9.30 pm\, in the Cour d’Honneur at the Palais Princier. \nThis year\, place to the most beautiful musical works of the famous French composer Eric Serra\, who will perform live with his group “RXRA Group” against a background of film clips. Having notably obtained the César for best film music for Le Grand Bleu in 1989\, Eric Serra is also the only French composer to have written a music for a James Bond\, in this case GoldenEye. He entered the world of cinema alongside Luc Besson in 1981\, he has since signed his compositions a large number of masterpieces of the 7th art. \nCreated in 2011\, the “Summer Dream” evenings aim to bring together\, for one night\, talented personalities\, sensitive to environmental causes defended by the Foundation.
