SUMMARY:The Promise of Happiness\, exhibition by Tom Wesselmann at Villa Paloma
DESCRIPTION:In June 2018 the New National Museum of Monaco (NMNM) will exhibit a series of works by Tom Wesselmann at Villa Paloma. \nFrom Friday 29 June to Thursday 31 January\, from 10 am to 6 pm Nouveau Musée National – Villa Sauber: Tom Wesselmann exhibition – The Promise of Happiness \nNamed The Promise of Happiness\, the exhibition will revolve around the career of this pop art singer\, highlighting his immense contribution to the taboo subject of sexuality. The exhibition takes its title from Stendhal’s celebrated claim that “Beauty is but the promise of happiness.” \nConcentrating on the artist’s portrayal of women\, which has been known to draw fire for its purported objectification\, this exhibition argues for a much more nuanced understanding of the Wesselmann’s rapport with the female subject. Indeed\, through this survey\, a certain sense of female agency will become apparent\, which in itself is symptomatic of a crucial historical shift from Victorian repression to the abundance associated with postwar American consumerism\, as both are described and quite literally embodied in Wesselmann’s work. Long considered one of the key American Pop artists as well as one of its great formal innovators\, Wesselmann’s specific critical contribution to the movement has been a subject of debate for decades. This survey intends to clarify this debate\, locating his prodigious and penetrating contribution to the taboo subject of sexuality\, portrayals thereof\, and its inseparable link with the boundless promise conveyed by the cultural\, material and economic bounty of postwar American society.   \nSource: www.e-flux.com \n

DESCRIPTION:Known as the temple of Monegasque Shopping\, the Metropole Shopping Monte-Carlo will open its doors to renowned artist Julien Marinetti. \nFrom October 8 to November 15\, the artist will present on this occasion a palette of 16 sculptures with inestimable content. \nJulien Marinetti is a painter\, sculptor\, engraver creative to his fingertips. As a visual artist\, he explores the many facets of art. Passionately enamored of the Quattrocento\, he chiseled his career in the crucible of a flamboyant classicism. \n \nEach exposed bronze sculpture is treated like a canvas\, with a succession of layers of acrylic paint\, the artist treats both color and figuration as two fundamental subjects. The work is then lacquered\, successive layers of varnish provide additional intensity. Each work is unique! \nOn October 18th Julien Marinetti will be at the Metropole Shopping from 19.30  to 21.00 for an explanatory visit.

DESCRIPTION:A new temporary exhibition at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco (19 october – 13 november) “Eden Blue\, Volcans Eden” by Marcello Lo Giudice. \nOn Friday\, October 19 at 18:30 at the Oceanographic Museum there will be the opening of the exhibition. \nAfter the MAXXI Museum in Rome\, the Russian State Museum in Saint Petersburg and the Ekaterina Foundation in Moscow\, the Italian artist Marcello lo Giudice presents his most recent paintings at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco from October 19 to November 13\, 2018 ( in Conference Room). \nEntitled “The Edens”\, these large format works offer a journey into the heart of abstract landscapes\, almost raw\, intimately linked to nature. \n \nSensitive to the environment\, the artist has been working for several years with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to support marine research and act for the preservation of our planet. The Oceanographic Museum has established itself as an ideal setting to welcome these works which\, through the symbolism and power of their colors\, tell a story about our relationship to nature.

DESCRIPTION:No Finish Line® is a charity event that has been held in Monaco since 1999. Under the patronage of His Serene Highness the Sovereign Prince Albert II\, the race is open to all runners and walkers\, whether or not they are members of a running club. \nThis year it will take place from Saturday 10 November to Sunday 18 November\, 2 pm to 4 pm Espace Fontvieille. \nThe principle is quite simple and open to all\, and involves running or walking as many laps as you wish on a 1400 metre track\, which is open 24 hours a day for eight days. Participants are free to run or walk for just an hour\, or do a marathon every day\, whether alone or as part of a group. \nThanks to the registration fees\, donors and sponsors\, for every kilometre run or walked\, Children & Future donates €1  to support efforts to help disadvantaged or sick children. If you wish\, you can also pledge €1 for every kilometre you intend to run or walk.
