DESCRIPTION:Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival 2019 from Friday 15 March to Sunday 14 April 2019\, Principality of Monaco. \nSince 1984\, the Spring Arts Festival invites you to rediscover the so-called “classical” music. \nDespite its more than 30 years of existence\, each edition of the Festival is unique thanks of course to music itself\, artistic projects\, inventions of all kinds but also to a program that is reinvented each year. In total\, 22 concerts and a film will be given between March 15 and April 14\, 2019\, in 9 different places in the Principality. For this 35th edition\, Alexandros Markeas composer-in-residence of the festival\, will give the opportunity to present his works to the young musicians of the region. \nThe 2019 edition under the chairmanship of S.A.R The Princess of Hanover will focus on the less known aspects of the concerto and string quartet\, showing that these genres are not “classical”. You will be able to discover how the Beethoven quartets\, considered as absolute and classic reference\, explore from the first opus forms\, sounds and themes among the most adventurous in the history of music. The piano will also be part of the program. Indeed\, it is plunging without limits in its repertoire that we discover its less “classic” and most surprising aspects. \nThis year\, the Festival will also pay tribute to two figures of the twentieth century: Mauricio Kagel and Karlheinz Stockhausen. The Western tradition will also be at the rendezvous with unique Mongol songs called “diphonic” due to their ability to produce two sounds at a time. \nFinally\, as every year\, the festival will offer you an unknown journey: you can board a bus to an unknown destination with only guaranteed to be surprised on arrival by music and surprising places.

SUMMARY:3rd edition of the Monaco Ocean Week
DESCRIPTION:International marine environment experts are meeting in Monaco for a week devoted to the major issues affecting the ocean. \nNone other than the future of our shared heritage will be the subject of the third edition of Monaco Ocean Week\, from 24 to 30 March 2019\, organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation\, the Government of Monaco and their partners: the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco\, the Scientific Centre of Monaco and the Yacht Club of Monaco. \nThis unifying event is bringing together scientists\, experts\, NGOs and representatives of civil society to discuss the key issue of ocean protection. \nOn the agenda are topics addressing innovation\, research and developing a blue economy. The possibilities offered by biomimicry\, the opportunities created by bioplastics\, rethinking yachting of the future\, pooling initiatives to curb and tackle plastic pollution more effectively\, and developing a sustainable ocean economy are among the themes that will be tackled during a variety of workshops and talks being held throughout the week.

DESCRIPTION:The study of the human brain represents one of the last frontiers of knowledge. \n\n\nThe brain is at the centre of all our behaviours\, actions\, emotions but is also unfortunately subject to many medical conditions. Indeed\, more than 30% of all health costs are related to brain diseases. Moreover\, with an ageing population\, the number of persons suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease\, Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia will only increase. At any age\, debilitating psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia\, anxiety disorders\, addiction or depression affect an increasing percentage of the population. These diseases often start at a young age and have a chronic impact on persons affected. Traumatic injuries to the spinal cord are another example of nervous system ailments that often affect middle-aged persons. It is the pleasure and privilege of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies\, with the support of TRB Chemedica and of Magnoglia\, to present to the Monegasque public an exceptional panel of great doctors and scientists who specialise in the brain that will present their work on the functioning and diseases of the nervous system at the Grimaldi Forum on Saturday 30 March in the afternoon. \nThey will also discuss with the public during a debate led by Ms Cattan\, Head of the Health Section of Nice Matin and Var Matin. \nThe conference is free and open to the public. Doctors and healthcare professionals are also welcome. The conference will be in French with simultaneous translation into English.

SUMMARY:The Rose Ball
DESCRIPTION:The 65th edition of the Rose Ball will be held Saturday\, March 30\, 2019\, Hall of Stars Sporting Monte Carlo. \nThis is one of the major charity events in Monaco. Created in 1954\, it benefits the Princess Grace Foundation. Each year\, H.R.H. Princess of Hanover selects a new theme. For several years Karl Lagerfeld was the designer of the event. Last year he was again invited to design the Ball\, his fifth time to accept the honour. And 2019 this March the Bal will no doubt feature a remembrance to him. \nThere are always ravishing bouquets of thousands of roses decorating the Salle des Etoiles in the Sporting d’Eté complex. Top-name performers delight the audience\, who grace the event with their finest attire. This prestigious fund-raising event is open to the public. \nA social gathering \nCurrently presided by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II and H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover\, the Rose Ball is a symbol of glamour that maintains the fascinating Monte-Carlo legend that it has helped create. \nA Ball between tradition and modernity \nIn March 2013\, the year of the 150th anniversary celebration of the Monte-Carlo SBM Group\, the event was renamed Rose Ball on The Rock for the occasion. Thanks to Karl Lagerfeld‘s artistic talent\, the Salle des Etoiles was transformed into a “Belle et Pop” ballroom. \nA fundraiser for the Princesse Grace Foundation \nThe Ball isn’t just a simple social event or another pretext to have a party. It is first and foremost an internationally recognised charity event with all proceeds and other exceptional prizes (sculptures\, paintings etc.) going to the Princess Grace Foundation since 1964. This foundation’s vocation is to help people and children in need by developing humanitarian and philanthropic projects.

He enjoys playing with his fellow musicians in a quartet between world tours. He always goes back to Beethoven\, especially his final quartets which are a bible for musicians as they build on a visionary aspect of style which has never stopped fascinating performers and music lovers to this day. In the final Quartet No. 16\, the light appears as a final nod to the romantic genius playing with the rules of his time as the question arises in capitals in the score: “ Muss es sein?” [Must it be?]… Beethoven’s last call\, metaphysical this time\, to his era and the future.
