DESCRIPTION:“On the Sonny Side”\, Tribute to Sonny Rollins with Riccardo Anfosso\, guitar\, Giuliano Raimondo\, double bass\, Jean-luc Danna\, percussion\, Enzo Cioffi\, drums\, and Franck Taschini\, saxophone\, organised by the Monaco Jazz Chorus on Wednesday 11 March 2020\, at 8.30 pm in Théâtre des Variétés. \nSonny Rollins is one of the last remaining jazz giants\, during his long career he crossed paths with Charlie Parker\, John Coltrane\, Thelonious Monk\, Miles Davis\, Max Roach and Art Blakey\, among others. He is an outstanding improviser with total spontaneity and limitless innovation. He is also an excellent composer. Finally for all tenor saxophonists it is in a way the father figure. The concert repertoire will include compositions by Sonny Rollins and also some emblematic standards of the musician.
