SUMMARY:Exhibition «En rêvant la Méditerranée» ("Dreaming of the Mediterranean") by Antoine Pierini
DESCRIPTION:The Center of National Monuments welcomes you to the Villa Kérylos\, Beaulieu-sur-Mer\, France at the exhibition «En rêvant la Méditerranée» (“Dreaming of the Mediterranean”)\, by Antoine Pierini from May 8th to Septembre 18th\, 2022. \nThousands of years old\, the craft of glass has come to us from antiquity. Today\, innumerable objects in glass make up our everyday life\, while only a few of make it to the level which we would consider to be a work of art. Antoine Pierini\, designer\, glass artist\, and inheritor of a savoir-faire transmitted from father to son\, evokes a voyage across the sea and across time in an intimate epic that he has specifically created for the Villa Kérylos. \n©Ilan Dehe\nHis amphoras in colored glass\, whole or fragmented\, coinhabit at the heart of the Villa Kérylos with those of antiquity\, covered in a hoary concretion and who act as witnesses to the shipwrecks in a sea who has rested untamed all these millennia. \nIn this sensitive odyssey of glass and color\, Antoine Pierini hands over his emotions born from unique experiences and communal memories. Each work carries within itself the richness of history\, the strength of sensations\, and not only is each an invitation to voyage into the Mediterranean\, but also an invitation to dream of it.

SUMMARY:Exhibition "Newton\, Riviera" in Villa Sauber
DESCRIPTION:“Newton\, Riviera”\, an exhibition from Friday 17 June to Wednesday 13 November 2022\, in Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Sauber. \nThe title of the exhibition clearly circumscribes a geography\, that of the French Riviera to Bordighera\, Italy\, which Helmut Newton photographed from the 1960s until his death in the early 2000s. Newton\, Riviera is a pretext for a new look at the work of one of the 20th century’s foremost photographers through a fascinating collection of images\, some that have become famous\, others rarely displayed to the public. \n \nIt was here too\, that he produced a great many portraits of “beautiful people”\, some of whom had taken up residence in Monaco\, others merely passing through. His works from this period also include portraits of the stars of the Ballet de Monte-Carlo and the Princely Family. In Monaco\, Newton finally did landscapes\, a genre of photography that he had never previously explored. There\, he also developed “Yellow Press”\, one of his most personal series\, full of strange\, disquietingly glamorous images inspired by crime scenes. \nWhile Newton\, Riviera focuses heavily on this period\, the exhibition also looks at Newton’s historic links with the Riviera. Through 280 photographs\, we discover a dazzling Newton’s ironic yet fascinated interpretation of a way of life characterised by ease and elegance\, a world dominated by appearance and superficiality. A veritable living theatre\, in which he was both a player on the stage\, and a privileged member of the audience.

SUMMARY:Exhibition "Christian Bérard\, Excentrique Bébé"
DESCRIPTION:“Christian Bérard\, Excentrique Bébé”\, an exhibition organized from Saturday 9 July to Sunday 16 October 2022\, in Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma. \n“Christian Bérard\, Excentrique Bébé” continues the NMNM programme of exhibitions dedicated to the revolutionary aesthetics developed by Serge Diaghilev in Monte-Carlo. Heralding certain aspects of contemporary art\, the cross-disciplinary approach taken by the founder of the Ballets Russes brought radical transformation to the decorative arts during the 1910s and ’20s and had a lasting influence on visual and performance art to this day. \n@NMNM\nFollowing the exhibitions “Portraits d’Intérieurs and Designing Dreams\, a Celebration of Leon Bakst”\, Célia Bernasconi\, chief Curator at the NMNM\, is extending\, for this new project\, the dialogue begun in 2014 with the artist Nick Mauss\, with the purpose of presenting the extraordinary modernity of Christian Bérard\, affectionately referred to as Bébé by his friends.

SUMMARY:“Les Voiles Blanches Bettimask” operation
DESCRIPTION:For several years\, the Town Hall of Monaco has been involved in the “Les Voiles Blanches Bettimask” (“The White Sails Bettimask”) operation\, the aim of which is to collect toys and games for children which will be donated to the Lenval Foundation. \nFrom September 3 to 25\, the Pirate Blanc will board his Skaf sailboat and sail between the Bouches-du-Rhône\, the Var\, Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes\, passing through 25 ports on the Côte d’Azur\, in order to recover chests full of toys. \nTwo safes are positioned within municipal sites: in the Hall of the Town Hall and at the Condamine Market. \nEveryone is invited to drop off a game or toy that must be new and unwrapped for better distribution to children. \nA solidarity approach that is a great success every year and which brings a little comfort and escape to hospitalized children.
