SUMMARY:Exhibition of Francisco Tropa – Paesine in Villa Paloma
DESCRIPTION:The NMNM presents a monographic exhibition by Portuguese artist Francisco Tropa\, specially conceived for the Villa Paloma and featuring a previously unseen selection of sculptures\, drawings\, films and light projections. \nThe exhibition takes its names from pietre paesine (imaged stones)\, whose geological designs are evocative of painted landscapes\, on the boundary of figuration and abstraction. This idea of an analogy between nature and technique is at the heart of Francisco Tropa’s work\, which focuses on the conditions of appearance and perception of an image. \nAt Villa Paloma\, just a few yards from the famous “Observatory cave” that was occupied in the Palaeolithic period\, Tropa seeks with humour and delicacy to reinterpret the origins of sculpture and its formal vocabulary\, borrowing from prehistoric Venuses and classical Pietà\, all the way up to minimalist works from the last century. Through a form of “anarchaeology”\, it obliterates any attempt to create a historical account and deconstructs  the very space of the museum itself\, turning it (back) into a platonic cave. \nPresented with ambiguous materials and images of unfathomable depth\, the spectator is invited to a total experience of sculpture\, from its material forms to its symbolic projections.

DESCRIPTION:Exhibition: “Agora\, the Place of the Museum” will take place from Friday 24 January to Sunday 4 May 2025 at Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Sauber. \nBack in 2015\, the NMNM debited its first ever LAB giving visitors a glimpse “behind the scenes of the museum”. Then in 2018\, five guest artists were invited to produce their own musings on the very meaning of the museum itself. In 2025\, as the Villa Sauber prepares to undergo a radical transformation\, the NMNM is giving pride of place to its public-facing programmes\, where the focus is on artists and promoting a wider sharing of art appreciation.

DESCRIPTION:Monaco City Hall is proud to present a retrospective devoted to Hubert Clerissi from Thursday 20 February to Wednesday 12 March 2025\, 11 am to 6 pm\, in Salle d’Exposition du Quai Antoine Ier. \nThe landmark exhibition “Espaces ciselés” is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Pavillon Bosio\, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. The son of an architect\, Monegasque artist Hubert Clerissi has developed a unique style characterised by incisive lines\, though his art has gradually evolved from architectural influences to a freer form of expression. His urban landscapes are a fascinating juxtaposition of exacting precision and emotion\, while his watercolours explore the fragility of life. Influenced by Utrillo\, Dufy\, and Buffet\, Clerissi uses a variety of techniques to create a very personal world\, in which lines symbolise the quest for freedom. Admission to the exhibition is free and no booking is required.

DESCRIPTION:Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo (Spring Arts Festival) is held this year from Sunday 2 March to Sunday 27 April 2025\, in the Principality of Monaco. \nThe Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo 2025 Festival will celebrate the centenary of Pierre Boulez\, a leading figure in the world of contemporary music\, who pioneering work and worldwide influence will be explored through a series of concerts\, screenings\, and performances. The Festival will also showcase the artistic connections between Boulez and painter Francis Bacon. Six of Bacon’s paintings\, created around the time the two men met in Paris\, illustrate the themes of human fragility and time and reflect on the ways in which music and painting each inspire the other. The dialogue between two of the 20th century’s great cultural geniuses is a unique immersion in their artistic world.

DESCRIPTION:Monacollecte\, the event dedicated to promoting recycling in the Principality returns on March 7 and 8 for two days around the theme of “textiles in all their forms”. \nThe Société Monégasque d’Assainissement (SMA) and the Department of Urban Amenities\, in partnership with the Monaco City Council\, invite you to the 4th edition of MonaCollecte\, the solidarity event focusing on waste collection\, reuse and recycling. \nAt this event\, come and drop off everything you want to get rid of in one place! \nSeveral charities will be on hand to collect what can be reused (clothes\, toys\, books\, IT equipment\, small electrical appliances\, etc.). DESCRIPTION:Called POWHER\, the event will take place between 10 am and 8 pm at the Espace Léo Ferré on Saturday 8 March. The theme for 2025 will be the image and representation of women in the media (films\, advertising\, video games\, art\, etc.). \nAt the event\, the public will be able to check out some exhibitions\, a “gaming” area\, a cosplay workshop\, an escape game and some performances for all the family. \nActress and director Audrey Dana will be the event’s patron. To kick off the day\, she will take part in a roundtable on the representation of women in arts and the media. She will be joined by Kayane\, the streamer and e-sports champion\, who will also host the gaming space; Harmony Larcher\, the former cosplayer and now fashion designer; and Toby Wright\, the artist and women’s rights ambassador. \nIn addition to Toby Wright\, the Committee can also count on the involvement of its other women’s rights ambassadors: \n\nCédric Biscay has designed the event poster: “I wanted a hard-hitting visual that would attract a wide audience. The use of pop culture references to encourage young people to get involved and convey the Committee’s strong values was a natural choice.” He also contributed his expertise to the organisation of the roundtable and the gaming and cosplay areas\, three of the day’s flagship attractions.\nHassan de Monaco selected three artists from the new generation for the comedy performance set to close the day: Amandine Lourdel\, Basile and Myriam Barouk.\nAnthony Alberti\, alias Mr One Teas\, designed the photobooth\, which will allow visitors to take home a unique and original memento of their involvement in the day.\n\nThere will also be other activities to discover on the day.
