DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the wedding of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly\, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco presents an exceptional exhibition “Wedding of the Century”\, dedicated to this internationally renowned event from 18 June to 25 September 2026. \nAt the crossroads of European monarchical tradition and American-style media staging\, the “wedding of the century”\, to use the expression coined by journalist Pierre Macaigne in Le Figaro as early as 4 April 1956\, left a lasting imprint on public imagination and on Monaco’s contemporary history. \nThrough photographs\, film footage\, jewellery\, gowns\, gifts and previously unseen archival material\, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the key figures\, locations\, highlights and behind-the-scenes moments of a week of celebrations organised in just three months\, from Grace Kelly’s spectacular arrival on the morning of 12 April to the departure of the princely couple for their honeymoon on the evening of 19 April. \nAlthough the wedding ceremonies of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly do not feature among the contemporary myths analysed by Roland Barthes (1915–1980) in his Mythologies\, published in 1957\, they could easily have formed the subject of one of the semiologist’s essays. DESCRIPTION:The Crossing event is making a grand return and will take place on June 19 and 20 with a new\, exceptional edition\, in the heart of the Mediterranean\, along a brand-new 225-kilometer water bike route. \nOrganized by Her Serene Highness Princess of Monaco Foundation since 2020\, this sporting and charitable event aims to raise awareness of the Foundation’s initiatives\, particularly swimming education\, drowning prevention\, and the promotion of the educational and human values of sport. Driven by an international dimension\, it embodies a multicultural and unifying spirit. \nThis year\, the Crossing has taken on an environmental dimension. The race will pass through the Pelagos Marine Sanctuary\, a European marine treasure. Forming a triangle between France\, Italy\, and Monaco\, this sanctuary stands as the largest marine area dedicated to the protection of marine mammals in Europe. Created in 1999\, this 87\,500-square-kilometer territory remains an essential refuge for many iconic species. \nFor this new edition\, several teams of four elite athletes will set off from the Viareggio Yacht Club (exact time to be confirmed 48 hours in advance) on Friday\, June 19. \nOver nearly 24 hours of continuous challenge\, participants will take turns at sea to reach the Principality of Monaco\, with an expected finish at Larvotto Beach on Saturday\, June 20 (exact time to be confirmed 48 hours in advance). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeyond the sporting performance\, “The Crossing” stands as a unique human and solidarity- driven adventure\, combining endurance\, commitment\, and self-transcendence in support of a vital cause.
