SUMMARY:“Wedding of the Century” exhibition
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the wedding of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly\, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco presents an exceptional exhibition “Wedding of the Century”\, dedicated to this internationally renowned event from 18 June to 25 September 2026. \nAt the crossroads of European monarchical tradition and American-style media staging\, the “wedding of the century”\, to use the expression coined by journalist Pierre Macaigne in Le Figaro as early as 4 April 1956\, left a lasting imprint on public imagination and on Monaco’s contemporary history. \nThrough photographs\, film footage\, jewellery\, gowns\, gifts and previously unseen archival material\, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the key figures\, locations\, highlights and behind-the-scenes moments of a week of celebrations organised in just three months\, from Grace Kelly’s spectacular arrival on the morning of 12 April to the departure of the princely couple for their honeymoon on the evening of 19 April. \nAlthough the wedding ceremonies of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly do not feature among the contemporary myths analysed by Roland Barthes (1915–1980) in his Mythologies\, published in 1957\, they could easily have formed the subject of one of the semiologist’s essays. The Monegasque event achieved extraordinary international resonance\, driven by unprecedented media coverage for its time\, the wide circulation of commemorative objects\, and the enduring abundance of narratives and collective memory it continues to generate. \nPractical information \n18 June – 25 September 2026\nState Apartments of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco \nJune & September: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. July & August: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. \nTickets & information: visitepalaisdemonaco.com \nPress visuals:\nMr Vincent Vatrican\nDirector of the Monaco Audiovisual Institute

SUMMARY:Exhibition “Preserving the Mediterranean. RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years”
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “Preserving the Mediterranean. RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years” is organized in the lobby of the Ministry of State from June 29 till October 30\, 2026. \nThe exhibition is jointly prepared by the National Archives of Monaco and the Executive Secretariat of the RAMOGE Agreement\, in partnership with the Archives of the Prince’s Palace and the Audiovisual Institute of Monaco\, entitled “Preserving the Mediterranean: RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years”. \nSigned on May 10\, 1976\, in the Throne Room of the Prince’s Palace—a unique event in the contemporary history of Monaco for an agreement of this type—at the initiative of Prince Rainier III\, the RAMOGE Agreement unites France\, Monaco\, and Italy around the protection of the marine environment and the coastline of an area initially extending from Saint-Raphaël to Genoa\, and later expanded from the mouth of the Rhône to that of the Magra. For half a century\, this pioneering instrument of trilateral cooperation has been carrying out concrete actions in the areas of marine biodiversity\, pollution control\, and raising awareness of Mediterranean environmental issues. Fifty years after its signing\, it remains at the forefront\, the only agreement in the Mediterranean combining anti-pollution measures with biodiversity preservation. \nThe exhibition retraces the genesis\, history\, and major achievements of the Agreement through archival documents\, photographs\, educational materials\, testimonials\, and animated images. It presents\, in particular\, previously unseen documents from the RAMOGE Agreement collection\, deposited at the National Archives of Monaco in 2025\, as well as documents from the Prince’s Government\, the Palace Archives\, the Monaco Audiovisual Institute\, and French and Italian diplomatic archives. The collections of the Oceanographic Institute and the Monaco Scientific Centre have also been used\, as well as press articles\, especially from the newspapers Nice-Matin and Il Secolo XIX. \nA QR code allows visitors to access an English version on the RAMOGE website\, and a visitor’s guide in Italian is available on site. This exhibition also benefits from a bilingual French-Italian traveling version\, currently on display at the Genoa Maritime Station since May 28\, before traveling to France in the fall. \nFinally\, it is available virtually on the RAMOGE Agreement website and will also be available on the National Archives website starting next November.

SUMMARY:Exhibition "Victor Brauner\, The Magical Adventure"
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “Victor Brauner\, The Magical Adventure” is held from 03 July 2026 to 03 January 2027 in Nouveau Musée National de Monaco\, Villa Paloma. \nFrom 3 July and for six months\, the Nouveau Musée de Monaco dedicates the spaces in the Villa Paloma to a major figure in international Surrealism\, Victor Brauner (1903–1966)\, a singular and special artist in the history of art\, whose remarkable body of work remains to be discovered. For the very first time\, “Victor Brauner\, the Magical Adventure” reveals an exceptional private collection based in Monaco that encompasses the artist’s entire production from the 1920s to the 1960s\, covering painting\, drawing and sculpture. Serving as a counterpoint to more than one hundred and sixty works from this collection\, ten non-Western objets d’art collected by Victor Brauner\, on loan from the musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole\, are also on display. \nVictor Brauner’s work is at once original\, erudite\, highly inventive and full of humor. Drawing on his Romanian origins and the Bucharest avant-gardes\, his encounter with André Breton and Surrealism from 1933\, as well as diverse archaic civilizations and mythologies\, he composed a wonderful visual laboratory of metamorphoses that sourced inspiration from his love of esotericism\, ultra-secret dogmas\, the German Romantics and non-Western arts. Bearing witness to an ever-evolving world\, his fascinating\, enigmatic creation moved from autobiography to mystery in a desire to achieve universality. This polymorphous body of work (painting\, drawing\, sculpture\, objects…) is a testament to his abundant construction of objects\, devised by the artist to conjure up his inner universe and the surrounding world. In a bid to cut himself off from reality\, Victor Brauner created legendary worlds in which fantasy and wonder cohabit\, occasionally tinged with irony to escape the barbarity around him or magnified by magic to establish a personal cosmogeny. Despite experiencing the weight of history\, as did other foreign artists in the early part of the century\, Victor Brauner carried on inventing all his life long\, with consummate tenacity and generous originality. \nIn 1941\, Victor Brauner confided: “every drawing and every discovery will be an extraordinary unknown place\, every painting will be an adventure”. \n“Through a unique private collection that presents one of the most singular and spellbinding corpuses of the 20th century\, the exhibition devoted to Victor Brauner in Monaco wishes to share the magic of this great artist with as many people as possible\,” states Camille Morando\, the exhibition curator. \nThe exhibition is accompanied by a catalog published by Hatje Cantz.

SUMMARY:A Wedding in the Spotlight. Rainier III and Grace Kelly. April 12-19\, 1956
DESCRIPTION:A Wedding in the Spotlight. Rainier III and Grace Kelly. April 12-19\, 1956 is organized by Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco from 06 July 2026 to 26 February 2027. \nWhen the marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly in Monaco was announced\, offers to film the event poured in. In February 1956\, from the United States\, the sovereign made his decision: “One film\, and one only\, in color and Cinemascope\, will be produced by the Principality.” \nTo facilitate the work of the approximately 1\,800 journalists who had come from all corners of the globe to cover the “wedding of the century\,” a press house was set up on the Rock. Access to the festivities was strictly controlled\, as the limited space meant that not all participants\, especially photographers\, could be accommodated. Sharing footage was essential. Meanwhile\, Radio Monte-Carlo and Télé Monte-Carlo produced and broadcast the ceremonies via Eurovision to 30 million viewers. Amateur filmmakers were also present: cameras in hand\, they captured the fervor of the entire population. \nMonaco also became a film set\, where Jean Masson and his assistant Jacques Demy worked diligently to shoot and edit\, in record time\, the footage for a color chronicle\, *The Wedding of Monaco*\, produced under “special authorization.” Produced by a Monegasque company\, C.I.T.E.L.\, the film was released in French cinemas on May 2\, 1956\, distributed by Pathé\, while M.G.M. handled its distribution in North America. Having remained unseen since then\, the film has just been restored in a laboratory by the Palace of Monaco and the Audiovisual Institute. \nOn display for visitors to explore\, films\, photographs\, archives\, and equipment retrace the history of this unique production and detail the media strategy behind an event that changed the face of the Principality. \nFrom July 6\, 2026 to February 26\, 2027\nFree admission\nMonday to Friday\, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. on Fridays)
