SUMMARY:Exhibition: “The Ice Giants”
DESCRIPTION:Polar bears and emperor penguins are the protagonists of the new exhibition “The Ice Giants” by Michel Bassompierre organized from Wednesday April 10 to Sunday October 6\, 2024 in Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Seven monumental works will take over the Oceanographic Museum and its roof terrace. On this occasion\, the sculptor will unveil five new creations: four polar bears as well as a 3-meter-high emperor penguin. Original drawings and sketches will also be exhibited accompanied by the screening of a film presenting the artist’s work. This temporary exhibition is part of the Polar Mission program run by the Oceanographic Institute since 2022.

DESCRIPTION:The collective exhibition CONCRETE BEACHES\, ARTIFICIAL LANDSCAPES\, based on a hypothetical scenario\, is held from 8 June to 30 September 2024\, Thursday to Saturday from 2 pm to 6 pm or by appointment\, Collect|MC. Abstract\, metaphysical\, uncertain. Visitors should approach it like a fictional tale\, one to which everyone can bring their own vision of a shared future. Every piece and object serve to animate those imagined futures\, some of which may already have come to pass. Inspired by the flamboyant dreams from the first collection of short stories by J.G. Ballard\, Vermilion Sands (1973)\, the exhibition uses hybrid storytelling to stimulate the imagination.

Turner’s decisive influence on painting\, and by extension his legacy\, will be highlighted in the exhibition through some interpretations of the sublime by leading contemporary artists. Prince Albert II of Monaco’s Olympic torch collection. \nThis exhibition will take you through time and the history of the Olympic flame relay\, embodying the spirit of peace\, friendship\, and fraternity that defines the Olympic movement. Each torch on display\, from Berlin 1936 to Paris 2024\, tells a unique story marked by innovation and aesthetics. These objects are not merely technological marvels designed to withstand the elements but also works of art symbolizing the cultures of the host countries. \nA family heritage \nThe personal collection of Olympic torches of H.S.H. Prince Albert II is a tribute to the Olympic legacy of Monaco’s princely family. From the illustrious John B. Kelly Sr.\, maternal grandfather of Prince Albert II\, a gold medalist in rowing at the 1920 and 1924 Games\, to the Olympic participations of Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II himself\, this exhibition celebrates a family passion for sport\, passed down through generations. \nA design by Frédéric Genin \nThis exhibition\, made possible thanks to the commitment of the Monaco Olympic Committee and the Grimaldi Forum Monaco\, benefits from the creative vision of architect Frédéric Genin.
