SUMMARY:Exhibition: “The Ice Giants”
DESCRIPTION:Polar bears and emperor penguins are the protagonists of the new exhibition “The Ice Giants” by Michel Bassompierre organized from Wednesday April 10 to Sunday October 6\, 2024 in Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Seven monumental works will take over the Oceanographic Museum and its roof terrace. On this occasion\, the sculptor will unveil five new creations: four polar bears as well as a 3-meter-high emperor penguin. Original drawings and sketches will also be exhibited accompanied by the screening of a film presenting the artist’s work. This temporary exhibition is part of the Polar Mission program run by the Oceanographic Institute since 2022.

Abstract\, metaphysical\, uncertain. Visitors should approach it like a fictional tale\, one to which everyone can bring their own vision of a shared future. Every piece and object serve to animate those imagined futures\, some of which may already have come to pass. Inspired by the flamboyant dreams from the first collection of short stories by J.G. Ballard\, Vermilion Sands (1973)\, the exhibition uses hybrid storytelling to stimulate the imagination.

DESCRIPTION:Photo exhibition of Léo Ferré at Espace Léo Ferré is held from September 2 to 15\, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. \nFor this 2024 back-to-school season\, Espace Léo Ferré and Monaco City Hall are proud to host a major photo exhibition in tribute to Léo Ferré (1916-1993)\, a former successful Monegasque singer whose concert hall bears his name. \nThrough numerous photographs\, the Belgian photographer\, Hubert Grooteclaes (1927-1994)\, recounts the artistic fraternal relationship that lasted between the two men for more than three decades\, which can be found in various statements by the photographer “For me\, having known him is more important than photography” but also by Léo Ferré “allow me to thank you and congratulate you for being the man before the click\, for being the flight before the bird”. \nEntitled “Léo Ferré’s Last Photo Exhibition at Espace Léo Ferré – Seen Through the Lens of Hubert Grooteclaes”\, the exhibition is the final event in the Espace Léo Ferré venue\, which will soon be moving to the îlot Pasteur. \nFree and open to the public\, it will be held from Monday\, September 2 (from 2 p.m.) to Sunday\, September 15\, 2024.

DESCRIPTION:European Heritage Days will be held between 14th and 15th September\, ‘The Heritage of Routes\, Networks and Connections’.  \nMore than 40 different sites in the Principality\, including the Palais Princier de Monaco\, will open their doors to the public for the 2024 edition of the European Heritage Days. The Grand Apartments in the Palais Princier de Monaco will host free tours of the state rooms\, the Salle d’Europe\, the Throne Room and the Galerie d’Hercule on each day between 10am and 6pm.   \nMusée Océanographique plans to offer significantly reduced entrance prices to visitors: entry will cost  \n\n€9 for an adult and \n€6 for children aged four to 17\n\nas well as a number of guided tours through the museum’s maritime exhibitions. The tours will be held on 15th September at 10.30am\, 1.30pm\, 3pm and 4.30pm.   \nPrincipality’s cultural institutions such as the Académie Rainier III\, the Pavillon Bosio – École Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques\, the Princess Grace Irish Library\, the Princess Grace Theatre\, the Académie Princesse Grace and the two Nouveau Musée National de Monaco all planning events for the European Heritage Days.   \nAlso several museums\, including the Musée d’Anthropologie Préhistorique de Monaco\, the Musée des Princes et de Leurs Gardes and the Musée des Timbres et Monnaies\, will be joining in\, as will numerous religious sites\, from the Cathédrale de Monaco to the Principality’s many churches.
