SUMMARY:Japan Highlights
DESCRIPTION:From March 2 to June 15\, 2026\, Le Méridien Beach Plaza unveils Japan Highlights\, an immersive exploration of Japan through the distinct yet complementary perspectives of Franck Solimeis and Carole Micallef. \n\n\n\n\nBlending photography and digital artistry\, the exhibition explores the compelling contrasts of a country where centuries-old traditions coexist with cutting-edge modernity. Quiet temples\, contemplative landscapes\, vibrant cities and contemporary aesthetics unfold in a richly immersive artistic experience. \nAbout the artists – Franck Solimeis and Carole Micallef\nA self-taught photographer born in Monaco\, Franck Solimeis has cultivated a distinctive visual language inspired by his travels. From Greenland and Namibia to the Atacama Desert and Madagascar\, his journeys across the globe reflect an enduring pursuit of authenticity and emotion. Yet it is in Japan that he discovered a deeply personal connection. \nThrough his lens\, he captures the quiet stillness of temples\, the precision of time-honoured gestures and the vibrant energy of sprawling metropolises. His work reveals a multifaceted Japan – at once ancient and ultra-modern\, contemplative and electric. More than a travelogue\, his photographs become fragments of memory: suspended moments that invite reflection on our own relationship with time\, balance and harmony. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I’m not sure whether photography led me to travel\, or whether my love of travel inspired me to capture these unique moments\,” he explains. “Japan has become a country close to my heart. I feel a deep sense of harmony there\, both with my energy and my spirituality. It is this duality between tradition and modernity that I sought to reveal.” \n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\nIn dialogue with this photographic perspective\, Carole Micallef brings a complementary artistic voice\, blending craftsmanship\, drawing and digital creation. Driven by an enduring curiosity\, she has explored various forms of expression since childhood\, including pottery painting\, wood engraving\, macramé and mixed media. Her artistic universe has been shaped by material\, gesture and transformation. \nShe has a particular affinity for vintage and found objects\, which she reimagines and gives a second life through painting and engraving\, creating singular works infused with history and meaning. In 2024\, she began a new chapter by embracing digital tools and exploring the meeting point between traditional artistry and contemporary technology\, while maintaining a fully hands- on creative process without the use of artificial intelligence. \nThis evolution gave rise to her collection Women of the World\, celebrating identity\, culture and inner feminine strength. Her work Tokyo Planet\, recipient of the 2024 Audience Prize at the Monaco Artists Forum\, exemplifies this fusion of artistic heritage and technological modernity. Within Japan Highlights\, her creations extend the journey initiated through photography and offer a more symbolic and introspective interpretation of contemporary Japan. \n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\nJapan Highlights – The Exhibition\nThrough this exhibition\, travel becomes a conversation between artistic perspectives and creative disciplines. \nJapan Highlights forms part of a broader celebration of Japan at Le Méridien Beach Plaza\, coinciding with the forthcoming opening of a new Japanese dining destination within the hotel. \nA refined interplay unfolds between art and gastronomy\, where the essence of Japan is revealed both visually and experientially. \n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\nThe Art of Travel According to Le Méridien\nAcross the globe\, Le Méridien reimagines hospitality as a gateway to cultural discovery. Guided by the belief that art enhances every journey\, the brand curates a vibrant programme that connects destinations\, local creative talent and curious travellers. \nEach property becomes a platform for artistic expression\, from temporary exhibitions and site specific installations to creative collaborations. In Monaco\, this vision comes to life at the Méridien Hub\, a lobby redefined as a space for dialogue and cultural exchange\, hosting four exhibitions each year featuring both emerging and established artists. \nJapan Highlights fully reflects this philosophy\, underscoring Le Méridien Beach Plaza’s commitment to bringing hospitality and culture into meaningful conversation. \nThis vision extends beyond the hotel itself through the signature Unlock ArtTM programme. In Monaco\, guests receive complimentary access to exhibitions at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco simply by presenting their room key. \nAt Le Méridien\, keys open far more than doors. They open worlds. \n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\n@ Japan Highlights\nPractical Information\nExhibition: Japan Highlights – Franck Solimeis & Carole Micallef\nDates: March 2 – June 15\, 2026\nOpening Reception: Tuesday\, March 10\, 2026 at 6:00 PM\nVenue: Le Méridien Hub\, 22 Avenue Princesse Grace – 98000 Monaco

SUMMARY:“Wedding of the Century” exhibition
DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the wedding of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly\, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco presents an exceptional exhibition “Wedding of the Century”\, dedicated to this internationally renowned event from 18 June to 25 September 2026. \nAt the crossroads of European monarchical tradition and American-style media staging\, the “wedding of the century”\, to use the expression coined by journalist Pierre Macaigne in Le Figaro as early as 4 April 1956\, left a lasting imprint on public imagination and on Monaco’s contemporary history. \nThrough photographs\, film footage\, jewellery\, gowns\, gifts and previously unseen archival material\, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the key figures\, locations\, highlights and behind-the-scenes moments of a week of celebrations organised in just three months\, from Grace Kelly’s spectacular arrival on the morning of 12 April to the departure of the princely couple for their honeymoon on the evening of 19 April. \nAlthough the wedding ceremonies of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly do not feature among the contemporary myths analysed by Roland Barthes (1915–1980) in his Mythologies\, published in 1957\, they could easily have formed the subject of one of the semiologist’s essays. The Monegasque event achieved extraordinary international resonance\, driven by unprecedented media coverage for its time\, the wide circulation of commemorative objects\, and the enduring abundance of narratives and collective memory it continues to generate. \nPractical information \n18 June – 25 September 2026\nState Apartments of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco \nJune & September: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. July & August: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. \nTickets & information: visitepalaisdemonaco.com \nPress visuals:\nMr Vincent Vatrican\nDirector of the Monaco Audiovisual Institute

SUMMARY:Exhibition “Preserving the Mediterranean. RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years”
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition “Preserving the Mediterranean. RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years” is organized in the lobby of the Ministry of State from June 29 till October 30\, 2026. \nThe exhibition is jointly prepared by the National Archives of Monaco and the Executive Secretariat of the RAMOGE Agreement\, in partnership with the Archives of the Prince’s Palace and the Audiovisual Institute of Monaco\, entitled “Preserving the Mediterranean: RAMOGE\, a pioneering agreement for 50 years”. \nSigned on May 10\, 1976\, in the Throne Room of the Prince’s Palace—a unique event in the contemporary history of Monaco for an agreement of this type—at the initiative of Prince Rainier III\, the RAMOGE Agreement unites France\, Monaco\, and Italy around the protection of the marine environment and the coastline of an area initially extending from Saint-Raphaël to Genoa\, and later expanded from the mouth of the Rhône to that of the Magra. For half a century\, this pioneering instrument of trilateral cooperation has been carrying out concrete actions in the areas of marine biodiversity\, pollution control\, and raising awareness of Mediterranean environmental issues. Fifty years after its signing\, it remains at the forefront\, the only agreement in the Mediterranean combining anti-pollution measures with biodiversity preservation. \nThe exhibition retraces the genesis\, history\, and major achievements of the Agreement through archival documents\, photographs\, educational materials\, testimonials\, and animated images. It presents\, in particular\, previously unseen documents from the RAMOGE Agreement collection\, deposited at the National Archives of Monaco in 2025\, as well as documents from the Prince’s Government\, the Palace Archives\, the Monaco Audiovisual Institute\, and French and Italian diplomatic archives. The collections of the Oceanographic Institute and the Monaco Scientific Centre have also been used\, as well as press articles\, especially from the newspapers Nice-Matin and Il Secolo XIX. \nA QR code allows visitors to access an English version on the RAMOGE website\, and a visitor’s guide in Italian is available on site. This exhibition also benefits from a bilingual French-Italian traveling version\, currently on display at the Genoa Maritime Station since May 28\, before traveling to France in the fall. \nFinally\, it is available virtually on the RAMOGE Agreement website and will also be available on the National Archives website starting next November.
