SUMMARY:MATEO tango opera
DESCRIPTION:MATEO tango opera is on stage of the Fort Antoine Theatre from 12 to 14 September 2025. \nMateo is a tango opera by Argentinian composer Martin Palmeri and directed by Carlos Branca. \nThe cast consists of seven international opera singers\, two dancers\, a string quintet\, a pianist\, two bandoneon players\, and a choir. \nThe story is set at the beginning of the 20th century during Argentina’s industrial revolution. A moving epic where the struggle between tradition and progress highlights the sacrifices of a father and the hopes of a new generation. The rhythm of tango and the vocals of verismo opera blend to create a so-called “grostesco” opera where humor and tragedy alternate harmoniously.
