Painters from the continent\, for their part\, were far fewer in number to visit Iceland. Yet! What place could be wilder\, more deserted\, closer to its origins than Iceland? \nBernard Alligand\, after exploring many other lands\, whether Asian (Cambodia\, Laos\, Vietnam) or Mediterranean (Egypt and Morocco\, where he stayed several times for artist residencies)\, discovered Iceland about fifteen years ago\, an island state in the North Atlantic\, located between Greenland and Norway\, on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates\, a land of volcanoes\, geysers\, fjords\, and glaciers. SUMMARY:Exhibition: Monaco’s architectural heritage
DESCRIPTION:Organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs with support from SOGEDA Monaco\, this exhibition is a follow up of a photography competition of young people aged 11 to 25\, on the theme of “Monaco’s architectural heritage”. \nThe idea is to get young people involved in protecting Monaco’s heritage and showcase the creativity of the Principality’s young people\, and the project is part of the European Heritage Days 2025 programme\, running under the theme of architecture. \nAn expert panel of judges selected 15 photographs\, paying particular attention to the artistic aspect of the young competitors’ work\, as well as to their unique perspective on the architectural heritage of their city. \nA youth panel made up of students from Monaco chose four winning entries from these 15 photographs. These are on display from 6 June to 5 October 2025 on the Railings in the St Martin Gardens. \nThe exhibition will then travel to Strasbourg in 2026\, during Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

DESCRIPTION:Monaco Philosophical Encounters\, from 10 to 15 June 2025\, with the theme of ‘Truth’ lies at the heart of PhiloMonaco Week. \nThis year marks the tenth anniversary of the first events held by Monaco Philosophical Encounters. These events were created to provide a genuine forum for reflection\, discussion and sharing. For its new edition\, which will take place from 10 to 15 June 2025\, several iconic locations in Monaco will host a varied programme of events based on the theme of ‘Truth’. Philosophers\, free-thinkers\, writers and public figures will be invited to engage with the public through lectures\, book presentations\, debates\, round tables and other interactive formats. \n\nLes Matinales\, held every day from 10am to 11am at the Place du Marché\, provides a unique opportunity to engage in direct dialogue between speakers and participants in a friendly atmosphere that encourages discussions.\nThe Princess Grace Theatre\, transformed for the occasion into the ‘House of Philosophy’\, will host most of the events: conferences\, conversations\, philosophy lunches\, youth workshops\, and more. Philosophical reflection will also take place in more unexpected venues\, such as the Café de Paris\, the Hermitage Hotel\, and the Monaco Yacht Club\, affirming the Monaco Philosophical Encounter’s team’s desire to spread thought in a variety of spaces.\nThe week will culminate with the awards ceremony\, being held at 8pm on Thursday 12 June\, at the Princess Grace Theatre. Presented by Thierry Consigny\, Cultural and Artistic Advisor to Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer\, this event will bring the founding members of Monaco Philosophical Encounters together with the judges.
