THE COLUMBUS HOTEL AND THE MARRIOTT*** – FOR BUSINESS TRAVELERS, AT THE QUIET OUTSKIRT OF THE PRINCIPALITY
If you take a look at the map of Monaco with the Monte-Carlo area & the Casino in the center, these two hotels are located at the outskirt of the Principality on the left side. Notably, the Marriott Riviera La Porte de Monaco, is technically situated on the territory of France in a town Cap d’Ail, and practically it sits on the other side of the bordering street, so you will not notice any difference. The Fontvieille region itself where the Columbus hotel is located together with the helicopter park, the circus, the stadium, and the rosary is a territory reclaimed from the sea and artificially created in the second half of the twentieth century.
Both hotels traditionally attract business clientele, though in summer many vacationers also stop here. Among the benefits of the hotels are: peace and quiet around, a good selection of restaurants in the nearest port, beaches of Cap d’Ail, and of course offices of the numerous industries within the walking distance. Among the flaws is the need to take a bus or a car to get to almost everything else in the center of Monaco unless you love long walks.
