#hello_monaco weekend: what to do on April 20th and April 21th
This weekend the Catholic part of the world is getting ready and celebrating the Easter Sunday, one of the most festive events among Christians worldwide. It commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death, as written in the Christian bible. But that’s not the only thing to do this weekend.
As every year for the Easter holidays, the Monaco City Council organizes original egg hunts for children from 3 years old. Notice to our toddlers fond of chocolate, it is at the Exotic Garden of Monaco and at the Princess Antoinette Park that we will have to go!
Plant hunting in the Exotic Garden of Monaco
Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 10h and 11h, the Exotic Garden of Monaco will host the now famous hunt for exotic plants. The children, who will be given a plant by the organizers on their arrival, will have to find its twin hidden in the paths of the garden. By bringing back the two identical plants, they will be rewarded with a small bag of chocolate eggs (one bag per child).
Two sessions are planned: one at 10am and the other at 11am. The number of places being limited, preliminary registration is required either by telephone (+377 93 15 29 80) or by email (jardin-exotique@mairie.mc).
The entrance of the Exotic Garden of Monaco is free for the child – from 3 years – and his companion.
9th Egg Hunt at Princess Antoinette Park
Never change a winning team! In collaboration with La Boîte de Jeux, the City’s Animation Department offers schoolchildren of the Principality (up to 12 years old) the 9th edition of the Egg Hunt in the alleys of the Princess Antoinette Park. Our little blond heads will have to work their brains through including playful workshops to leave the arms loaded with chocolate eggs!
See you on Sunday April 21st, 2019, from 2pm to 5pm. On-site registration the same day.
On the occasion of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, in partnership with the Monte-Carlo Country Club, the Friends of Lebanon organize with AMADE an evening under the sign of solidarity and sharing, on April 20, 2019, at the Belle Époque Room of the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo.
On the program there are many surprises including the presence of prestigious guests from around the world to support the cause, the access of girls to education.
The famous Lebanese pianist and composer of Armenian origin, Guy Manoukian will do us the honor of playing a piano concert. The oriental dancers of the company Scarabeo Palace will bring a warm atmosphere and the oriental touch to the evening. The brand Le Petit Elfe will design a fashion show, with the theme of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. Bruna Tohme, ambassador of the association Friends of Lebanon, TV presenter in Lebanon, will provide the animation of this gala. Finally, the musical atmosphere will be entrusted to the famous DJ JEANNE.
An auction and a raffle with even more incredible prizes will also be organized during the evening. The profits will be entirely donated to the children of Lebanon and Niger.

On Sunday you can enjoy a concert of Sacred Music by the Voces 8 Ensemble and the musicians of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday 21 April, at 4 pm in Eglise Saint-Charles.

The lucky ones who bought tickets in advance can enjoy Otello by Giuseppe Verdi at the Monte-Carlo Opera on Sunday 21 April, at 3 pm, Wednesday 24 April (gala), Saturday 27 April, Tuesday 30 April, at 8 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier.
Otello is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most influential Italian opera composers of the 19th century. Born on 10 October 1813 near Parma, Italy, Verdi’s precocious talent earned him a growing reputation from a very young age. William Shakespeare was one of the composer’s most important references. Otello and Falstaff were Giuseppe Verdi’s final two works. He died in Milan on 27 January 1901.
And for a few days there is 2019 International Electroacoustic Music Symposium going on from Thursday 18 to Saturday 20 April 2019 in Théâtre des Variétés.
There is quite a number of exhibitions taking place in Monaco. You can start with Grace Kelly 90 Years open from Friday 19 to Tuesday 30 April 2019, The Cars Collection of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco.
Under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Stéphane Bolongaro, Adriana Karembeu, sponsoring the exhibition, with the participation of Stéphane Bern, will pay tribute on the 90th anniversary of the birth of Princess Grace, with a unique event combining art with classic American cinema of the 1950s and 1960s.
You will see the actress in original, previously unseen productions, created specially to mark the occasion by 50 US artists, in collaboration with Stéphane Bolongaro. Each artist has been given free rein to create a unique homage to the iconic actress.
From 19 to 30 April 2019, there will be flashbacks to 1950s Hollywood. As you step into this golden age of cinema, you will see stunning, newly created sculptures, paintings and artworks, all celebrating the life of Grace Kelly.
Another exhibition that opened this week is “Ombre d’azur, transparence” (“Shadow of azure, transparency”), a project by Ettore Spalletti from Thursday 18 April to Sunday 3 November 2019, Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma.
The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco presents a new project by Italian painter and sculptor Ettore Spalletti. An exhibition of forty works, including both important new creations and some of the artist’s historic pieces, has been specially put together for the Villa Paloma.
The project is presented as part of a programme of exhibitions dedicated to artists including Thomas Schütte, Richard Artschwager, Erik Boulatov, Mike Nelson, and Alfredo Volpi, who developed their own research, independently of artistic trends and movements, completely focused on the fusion of the arts and the concrete experience of space.
