The 11 largest yachts sold in 2016

With the new year fast approaching, Yacht Harbour looks at the largest yachts that we know to have been sold in the past year.

1. Golden Odyssey II

Length: 80m (263ft)

Builder: Blohm+Voss

Asking price: €39,950,000

The 80-meter Golden Odyssey II was built by Blohm + Voss in 1990. Owned by Prince Khaled bin Sultan, son of the late Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, Golden Odyssey II was the previous flagship of his Golden Fleet.

Boasting 11 guest cabins, she carries a crew of 29 and can reach a maximum speed of 18 knots. Amongst her key amenities is a large spa pool with a see-through glass that leads to an aquarium. With the delivery of the fleet’s newest flagship, 123-meter Golden Odyssey, Golden Odyssey II was sold back in September after spending a year and a half on the market asking €39,950,000.

2. Leander G

Length: 75m (246ft)

Builder: Peene Werft

Asking price: Undisclosed

Delivered in 1993 by Peene Werft to Sir Donald Gosling, 75-meter Leander G became the 32nd largest yacht in the world at the time of her launch. Purchased by Sir Gosling whilst in already in build at Peene-Werft, the project was updated to her new owner’s requirements with several adjustments such as the addition of a helicopter deck.

A popular yacht on the charter market, Leander G was often used by royals such as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. She has been sold in February 2016 at an undisclosed asking price.

3. Elegant 007

Length: 72.48m (237ft)

Builder: Lamda Shipyard

Asking price: $29,000,000

Built in 2005 by Athens-based, Lambda Shipyard as RM Elegant, the 72.48-meter yacht can accommodate 30 guests in 15 cabins and reach a top speed of 18 knots. Designed by Lally Polias, the superyacht has been sold by Camper & Nicholsons in April 2016 at an asking price of 29,000,000$.

4. Natalina A

Length: 71.8m (235ft)

Builder: Golden Yachts

Asking price: €70,000,000

Delivered as recently as 2015 by Greece-based, Golden Yachts as O’Pari 3, the 71.8-meter superyacht was sold earlier this week at an asking price of €70,000,000. Following the sale, she was renamed to Natalina A by her new owner.

5. Iroquois

Length: 66m (216ft)

Builder: Lurssen

Asking price: €79,500,000

Ester III was delivered in 2014 by Lurssen and premiered as one of the headlines of the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show. Listed for sale in August asking €79,500,000, the yacht was sold after spending just 4 months on the market. Following her sale she was renamed to Iroquois.

6. Party Girl

Length: 62.5m (205ft)

Builder: ICON

Asking price: €57,500,000

Delivered in 2013 as Maidelle by Dutch-based, ICON, as the third hull in their 62.5m yacht series which included Baton Rouge and M/Y Icon, she counts a 17-meter long main salon amongst her long list of amenities.

Sold in May 2013 asking €55 million and renamed to Meridian, the yacht was sold again earlier this year asking €57,500,000.

7. Positive Carry

Positive Carry

Length: 62m (203ft)

Builder: Feadship

Asking price: $49,750,000

Delivered by Feadship in 2005 as Rasselas, she was sold back in 2014 at an asking price of $57,500,000 and renamed to Positive Carry following a refit. With a Pannagan Designs interior, the 62-meter yacht can accommodate 12 guests and was available for charter from $525,000 per week before her sale in June of this year.

8. Solemar

Length: 61.5m (201ft)

Builder: Amels

Asking price: €27,500,000

Built in 2003 by Dutch shipyard, Amels with a Michael Leach interior design the 61.5-meter yacht was later refitted in 2011. Amongst her key amenities are a nightclub, outdoor cinema, jacuzzi, gymnasium and a wide array of toys.

Earlier this year, she was sold by her Russian owner, who Forbes Russia have reported to be Brooklyn Nets owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, at an asking price of €27,500,000.

9. Katharine

Katharine

Length: 61.3m (201ft)

Builder: CRN

Asking price: $24,900,000

Delivered in 2000 by Italy-based, CRN as Numptia, she was later renamed to New Sunrise. The yacht was then sold once again in 2012 asking $28,5 million. In April of this year, she found a new owner at an asking price of $24,900,000 and was renamed to Katharine.

10. Meduse

Length: 60.66m (199ft)

Builder: Feadship

Asking price: $25,000,000

Delivered in 1996 by Feadship, Meduse boasts a variety of special features such as a main salon with a piano, a skylounge planned as a music recording studio, a helipad and a private cinema.

Listed for sale in February 2012 asking $34,5 million, Meduse was eventually sold by Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen earlier this year at an asking price of $25,000,000.

11. Elysian

Elysian

Length: 60m (197ft)

Builder: Abeking & Rasmussen

Asking price: €52,500,000

Launched in 2009 as Elandess by Abeking & Rasmussen, the 60-meter superyacht boasts and exterior design by Donald Starkey and an interior by Bannenberg & Rowell. Refitted in 2012, the yacht was sold earlier this year asking €52,5 million and was renamed to Elysian.
