1. Fire breaks out on 30m Hargrave Limitless

According to footage that has surfaced on social media earlier, the 30m Hargrave, Limitless has caught fire near the island of Virgin Gorda in the Caribbean. No guests or crew were harmed in the incident that occurred on March 6th.

According to a representative of the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR), Phil Aspinall, the captain and crew are all safe. The US Coast Guard was the one that informed local authorities about the incident. Aspinall told BVI News Online that investigators – including the police – are still trying to ascertain more details regarding the cause of the fire.

Limitless was built by Hargrave in 2005 and last refitted in 2014. She features exterior design by Ben Dodarell and interior style by Shelley Dicondina. Limitless can accommodate 9 guests in 4 cabins, as well as a crew of 4.

2. Superyacht Okto has been spotted in Venice, Italy

 

The 66.40-meter built by ISA Yachts bears exterior design by Andrea Vallicelli, while the interior design is by late Alberto Pinto. Both designers worked in very close cooperation with the yard and the owner’s management team to combine both design and architectural aspects based on a strong contrast between the curvaceous lines of the decks with the rigorous and diamond-like geometry of the transom and sundeck.

As for the accommodation, the yacht can sleep up to 12 guests and 17 crew.

Featuring a black metallic steel hull and silver metallic aluminum superstructure, Okto is powered by twin CATERPILLAR 3512 C engines providing a top speed of 18,5 knots and a cruising speed of 16,5 knots.

The MarineTraffic data shows that the superyacht is now moored in Antigua and Barbuda.

3. 63 metre Sarp Yachts concept Aouda revealed

Sarp Yachts, located in the Free Zone of Antalya in Turkey, has unveiled its latest superyacht concept, 63m Aouda. Italian studio Hot Lab Yacht & Design is responsible for both the exterior and interior of the yacht.

Aouda can comfortably sleep 12 guests in six staterooms, consisting of one full-beam owner suite located on the upper deck, two full-beam VIP cabins and three guest cabins. The superyacht can also provide accommodation for 14 crew members.

She would be built to ABS and LY3 standards from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with the name coming from Princess Aouda, a character in Jules Verne’s novel “Around the World in 80 Days”.

A 5m pool features a waterfall which flows from a luminous glass column. Natural materials such as white walnut wood have been applied in combination with white taba frise wood, treasured gold leaf, mother of pearl and full custom genuine leathers. Panoramic views are guaranteed from the main saloon and sky lounge with full-height windows and sliding doors.

Performance wise she will be powered with a pair of 1,500hp CAT 3512C diesel engines providing a top speed of 16.5 knots, whilst the total fuel capacity of 110,000 litres will allow for a maximum cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

4. Ocean Sapphire spotted in La Ciotat, France

The 41m Ocean Sapphire has been recently spotted in La Ciotat, France. Launched by Rodriquez Yachts in 2010, she was designed by Foster&Partners.

The superyacht can sleep up to 12 guests in 5 cabins as well as a crew of 7. Ocean Sapphire features floor-to-ceiling windows in most rooms and open exterior deck spaces to provide uninterrupted views of the surroundings.

Her alluring amenities include a sundeck with sun beds, bar and gym equipment. The yacht also hosts a home cinema in the saloon, as well as a cappuccino bar, games station and exterior deck ideal for al-fresco dining.

As for the performance, Ocean Sapphire reaches a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.

5. Feadship Vertigo undergoing final sea trials ahead of her delivery

Dutch Yachting has released the photos of Feadship 92m superyacht Vertigo arriving to Amsterdam for the final sea trials and fitting out.

Vertigo saw the light of day on Wednesday 23 November, which is when this 96.55-metre superyacht left the construction hall at the Dutch yard in Makkum. She measures 96.55m/ 316.8ft and has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Redman Whiteley Dixon was responsible for the exterior design, Chahan Interior for the interior and De Voogt Naval Architects for the naval architecture.

With a gross tonnage of 2,999GT, Vertigo was built to Lloyds +100A1 class and will fly the Cayman Islands flag. Powered by twin MTU engines of 3,004hp each, Vertigo will be able to reach a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruise for 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Vertigo will accommodate 18 guests in 7 double cabins and 2 twins, as well as a crew of 34. The owner’s cabin is located on its own private deck with floor to ceiling windows throughout. Amenities include a spa pool aft of Vertigo’s main deck, an extensive beach club with a bar located under the pool, a private cinema and a spa.

Vertigo will further have two 10-meter custom Feadship tenders.

6. 34m yacht sinks in Mallorca

 

On March 4 footage of a 34m yacht sinking in Port d’Andratx, Mallorca, Spain has surfaced showing the yacht sinking following severe damage to the front of its hull. The yacht is believed to be 34m Custom Line, Paradise.

 

The incident is believed to have occurred earlier that morning in the marina. According to local publication, Diario De Mallorca, the damage to the hull was caused by strong winds that led to a line breaking and hitting the yacht against the quay.

 

Built in 2003 by Ferretti Group’s Custom Line division, Paradise had a composite hull and superstructure. Powered by twin MTU engines of 2775hp each, she had a beam of 7.08 meters. Paradise was up for sale asking €3,400,000.

 

According to footage taken later that day, the yacht was almost fully underwater.
