8th Environmental Symposium: On course for a responsible yachting industry
On the opening day of Monaco Ocean Week (10-14 April 2018), the aim of which is to better understand the threats facing marine environments, the Yacht Club de Monaco held the 8th La Belle Classe Superyachts Environmental Symposium. Organised in the form of a dinner-debate, the meeting discussed the many initiatives in the yachting world designed to protect the environment, including presentations on new projects presaging vessels of the future.
Monaco is Now “Compliant” with the OECD’s International Standards
Recently, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (“The Global Forum”) published the ratings assigned to several States, including Monaco. This publication is part of the OECD’s new Peer Review procedure to assess jurisdictions’ conformity with the international standard on the exchange of information on request, and, in particular, the new regulations implemented in 2016.

Monaco Grand Prix 2018 Bursts into Song with Monaco’s National Anthem
Less than six weeks to go to the Crown Jewel of all the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Up to one billion excited viewers are waiting for it around the globe. Charles I – the First Ruler to Establish Monaco as an Independent State
Charles I, Lord of Monaco is often seen as the founder of the Grimaldi dynasty. And he was the first ruler to establish Monaco as an independent state under Grimaldi rule.
Charles I was the eldest son of Rainier I and his first wife, Salvatica del Carretto. Prior to coming to power, the Genoese seized control of the Rock on April 10, 1301 and Charles was forced to flee into exile. After their invasion, the Genoese occupied the Rock for 30 years until Charles attacked to reconquer it. A veteran seafaring adventurer and well established both in the French King’s Court and the Lord of Provence, he swiftly took back the Rock and sent the Genoese fleeing.
Emirates offer Helicopter service between Monaco and Nice
In partnership with helicopter company Monacair, the Emirates company is now offering passengers a Monaco-Nice connection in 7 minutes aboard a helicopter.
Emirates customers traveling from Dubai to Nice, and vice versa, can now enjoy preferential rates on this helicopter transfer to and from Monaco. The service is offered free of charge to all passengers traveling First Class. Travellers in Business Class and Economy Class can take advantage of the opportunity at a preferential rate of respectively €79 and €109 per person per way. Discounts are also applicable for children.
