AS Monaco crushed Guingamp 6-0

A supremely ruthless all-round display from the Red & Whites saw them crush Guingamp by six goals to nil, their third win in as many games in Ligue 1.

Leonardo Jardim’s men put on a bravura first-half performance at the Louis-II. Guido Carrillo got the ball rolling in the 10th minute, heading in a perfect cross from Touré. On the half-hour mark, the Malian defender – who had a superb evening – beat Tabanou with a sumptuous sombrero in the box and pulled the ball back for Traoré to steer home the second. Balde made it three on 36 minutes after being set up for a one-on-one finish by the unselfish Rony Lopes. And the Monegasques capped a wonderful 45 minutes with a fourth just before the break, as Carrillo was brought down in the box and Fabinho converted from the spot. The game was already won as the teams went in at half-time.

The tempo naturally ebbed a little in the second half as the Red & Whites took their time. But they still had enough in the tank to add to the goal tally. In the 75th minute, Touré claimed a third assist as he set up Traoré to bag his second from the edge of the box. Four minutes later, Guido Carrillo rounded off the scoring with his second of the night, nodding in an impeccable cross from Ghezzal, who had only come on moments earlier. All in all, it was the ideal evening for the Red & Whites ahead of the international break. Their next game is away at Amiens in a fortnight.
