AS Monaco lost 4-0 to OGC Nice

After almost a year undefeated in Ligue 1, AS Monaco went down 4-0 at Nice on Saturday afternoon.

AS Monaco’s sensational run has come to an end. After going for almost a whole year without losing a match in Ligue 1 (24 games undefeated, including 16 straight wins), the Red & Whites were beaten 4-0 at Nice, with Plea, a Balotelli double and Ganago securing the win for the home side.

The first defeat of the season for AS Monaco leaves PSG outright leaders at the top of the league table (15 points to AS Monaco’s 12). While Saturday afternoon was difficult, there were echoes of last season’s match at the Allianz, at the same period. Leonardo Jardim’s men lost by the same scoreline, and we know just what sort of season they went on to have. The focus now turns to the Champions League, with a trip to Leipzig in four days’ time.
