AS Monaco snatched a 3-2 victory against Troyes

From 2-0 down with just twenty minutes to go, AS Monaco came storming back to turn the match on its head and snatch a 3-2 victory against Troyes, thanks to a double from Guido Carrillo.

After their European adventure ended in midweek at Porto, AS Monaco were back at the Louis II on Saturday evening, with Troyes visiting in Ligue 1. Thomas Lemar was included in the starting line-up after returning from injury, alongside Falcao, Baldé and Lopes. The game took a while to get going and there were 25 minutes gone when Khaoui beat Fabinho and curled a shot at goal. Subasic dived to make the save but could only push the ball back into the path of Suk, who slotted home to put Troyes in front. Moments later, Baldé and Sidibé both had great chances to level, but were thwarted by the woodwork and the Samassa in the visitors’ goal.

The opening minutes of the second half proved a tricky spell for the Monegasques, who fell further behind when Subasic saw his clearance charged down and poked into the net by Suk (50’). Despite having much more of the ball and the better chances, it seemed AS Monaco were in for one of those nights. But in the 70th minute, the tide turned. Lemar overlapped down the left and drilled in a cross that Deplagne could only turn into his own net to give the Monegasques a way back into the game. 2-1 quickly became 2-2 just minutes later, as Ghezzal played in Moutinho down the right and the Portuguese midfielder crossed for Guido Carrillo to equalise with a superb flicked header that nestled inside the far post.

Troyes were penned back in their penalty area, unable to find a way out, and the Red & White waves eventually broke their resistance. On 87 minutes, Glik got his head to Moutinho’s excellent free-kick and nodded the ball towards Carrillo. The Argentine guided the finish home to crown a quite superb second-half display by AS Monaco, who had deservedly turned the game on its head. The win leaves Leonardo Jardin’s men second in the table on 35 points. Their next match is the Coupe de la Ligue last 16 tie against Caen at the Louis II. Daghe Munegu!!!
