Traditional Japanese art of Ikebana honoured in the Principality
The prestigious Ikenobo School will be visiting Monaco on Sunday 10 June to present a demonstration of Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. The demonstration will take place at the Café de Paris, Salon Bellevue, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.
The Philosophical Meetings of Monaco’ awarded their 2018 prize for a philosophy book published in French in the past year to Étienne Bimbenet for ‘Le Complexe des trois singes – Essai sur l’animalité humaine’ (The complex of three monkeys – Essay on human animality) published by Le Seuil. The Honorary Mention 2018, which goes to a French-language publisher that has distinguished itself in the publication of philosophical works, was awarded to the GF Corpus / Philosophy collection, Flammarion. Finally, the 2018 Lycée Prize, which rewards a student who discussed the theme ‘Is there any lawful violence?’ was awarded to Hugo Giaccardi. The prizes were awarded at the end of a two-day Colloquium, which took place on the 6th and 7th of June.
The two children’s choirs of the Principality joined together for a new evening of music in the Cathedral on Thursday, for the construction of the Agora, the diocesan house. Les Petits Chanteurs de Monaco and the Children’s Choir of the Rainier III Academy of Music teamed up for an exceptional concert, directed by Pierre Debat, Chapel Master of the Prince’s Palace and the Cathedral of Monaco and Director of the Les Petits Chanteurs de Monaco and Bruno Habert, professor of choral music at the Rainier III Academy of Music.
Coach Leonardo Jardim is AS Monaco’s Priceless Asset
Back in June 2014, Jardim was appointed to AS Monaco for two seasons. He led the team to third place in Ligue 1 in his first year, repeating the feat in 2015–16 before signing an extension contract until 2019. Jardim’s success has helped increase the value of AS Monaco. But he is also willing to go the extra mile to promote AS Monaco abroad by participating in events to inspire youth about the joys of football.

Academie de Danse, Princess Grace – it has a beautiful ring to it. It evokes graciousness and grace, wonderful qualities for the young students of the school of dance to emulate. For close to 50 years now the school has been fortunate to be nurtured by the Princess Grace Foundation.
The Academie de Danse which occupies the magnificent Casa Mia is constantly shepherded by the Princess Grace Foundation to keep it at the level of international excellence that it strives for year in and year out.
“Saying” it All with the Body!
On Friday 8 June, almost a hundred pupils from State and private primary schools in Monaco and Beausoleil performed a musical entitled “Retour à l’enfance” (“Return to Childhood”) in the Salle Garnier at the Monte-Carlo Opera. The work was created as part of the “Choré-Voix” artistic training by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.
Once again this year, this multidisciplinary educational project, undertaken jointly by the Education Unit of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo and the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, was implemented in close partnership with the Prince Rainier III Academy of Music and Theatre. In addition, the Société des Bains de Mer gave its generous support to this major artistic initiative.
Serious Learning by Entertainment at the Eco Village and Eco-Schools in Monaco
Did you know that Monaco has three schools with the official designation ECO-SCHOOL (in French ECO-ECOLE). An eco-school specializes in having programs, as part of the overall curriculum, that teach awareness of sustainable development.
The programs are well-developed with eight themes including: food and nutrition, health, climate, water, biodiversity, waste management, energy and communities and solidarity. The teaching of sustainable development has come a long way and includes fun projects on the environment that involve the kids and their parents together with the teachers. And there is support for these schools to keep their programs at the leading edge.

On the 8th of June 2018 Monaco was exploded by the Official coronation of Mrs. Universe Monaco, Lithuania, France and Eastern Europe organized by the Beauty Contests Group in the heart of Monte Carlo Le Metropole.

Inauguration of ‘Rue de Monaco’ in Moulainville
On 9 June 2018, HE Claude Cottalorda, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco in France and Bernadette Dobin, Mayor of Moulainville, unveiled two plaques on the main street of the city of Meuse, which has been named ‘Rue de Monaco’.
The links between the Principality and this town date back to 1875 and the appointment of Louis Chadenet-Senocq, a native of France, as private secretary to the new governor general of the Principality.
The ceremony continued with the unveiling of a plaque on the outer wall of the town hall in memory of “Françoise Thérèse Choisieul, Princess of Monaco”.
Marie Tabarly will leave on a world tour aboard Pen Duick VI
Marie Tabarly, daughter of the late navigator Eric Tabarly, will leave on 3 July for a poetic and ecological world tour.
The project Elemen or ‘Earth’ will be a four-year maritime odyssey aboard the Pen Duick VI, formerlysteered by her late father. The Pen Duick VI is one of the most beautiful boats in the world and weights an astounding 33 tons. On board there will be sailors and guests from the cultural, sports and political worlds. An inn for artists and athletes with themes dear to Marie Tabarly: human nature, self-transcendence and openness to the world and to nature. An epic sea voyage that barely seems to scare her, as someone who lost her father on the seas almost two decades ago.
Those who will join her include Franck Cammas (skipper), Jacques Godin (painter), Leina Sato (freediver), Jean-Marie Ghislain (underwater photographer and diver), ThéoSanson (tightrope walker), Yann Tiersen, Pierre Casiraghi and others, who will remain onboard for one to three weeks at a time.
New Diocesan House will be finished next month
The 1,800 square metres of the Diocesan House are expected to be finished by the end of July. Located between Bel Respiro Street and Belle Street, the Diocesan House was designed by the architect Emmanuel Deverini. The ornamental building is being rebuilt and expanded in keeping with the original look, because a new contemporary design wouldn’t suit the structure. It took twenty-two months of construction for the 1800 m2, seven-floor building, which was once only 350 m2. The new cultural place, which will be named Agora, promises to facilitate beautiful encounters, but the diocese still needs donations. The Archbishop of Monaco hopes to finish in time and is asking for donations to make up the last two million euros needed to finish the House. The project, started in 2012, will be inaugurated by Prince Albert II on 16 November.
