Robert Cahen: From Music to Moving Image

Screening of Robert Cahen’s From Music to Moving Image organized by Monaco Audiovisual Institute will be held on 18 March 2026 at 7 pm in the Small room of the Institute.

Robert Cahen is a pioneer of video art, known and recognized in France and abroad. A musician, he studied electroacoustic composition under Pierre Schaeffer before joining him in 1971 at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), a French radio and television broadcasting company, which was then experimenting with image production using electronic tools. For fifty years, this video artist and musician has enveloped his films in textures and sounds. He plays with slow motion and freeze-frames, immersing the viewer in a sensory experience of time and movement.
