Stars from the worlds of Formula 1 and Hollywood came together for the official premiere of the F1 film in New York City on June 16. Monaco’s own Charles Leclerc and other superstar drivers, including Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris were on the red carpet along with the stars of the film: Brad Pitt, Damson Idris and Javier Bardem.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Charles Leclerc said that it was an amazing experience to see so many people out for the sport he loves. According to the driver, four or five years ago, when he visited New York, nobody knew about Formula 1, and now the sport has grown so much and the movie will bring it to another level.
Many of the film’s scenes were shot during real races. For Charles Leclerc, the experience was seamless. The driver was just doing his thing while the film crew did theirs, except Brad Pitt and Damson Idris were there! Charles Leclerc believes the movie looks amazing and everyone did an incredible job.
When Charles Leclerc was asked if he was impressed with any of the actors when they got behind the wheel, he said that driving fast on a track isn’t for everyone, but Brad Pitt and Damson Idris were very impressive and had so much fun.
When Charles Leclerc spoke to Damson Idris at the film premiere, the actor revealed that he’s looking forward to getting back on the track. Charles Leclerc responded by saying that he will happily take the actors back on the track.
F1 the movie hits theatres on June 25. The film tells the story of Sonny Hayes, a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, before he has a severe crash which forces him to retire and work as a taxi driver. A Formula One team owner and friend, Ruben, contacts Hayes and asks him to come out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy, Joshua “Noah” Pearce.
