For the past six years, Monaco has participated in “Les Voiles Blanches” operation by collecting toys and games for children, which will be then donated to the Lenval Foundation.

Throughout the summer, a friendly Pirate, dressed in white, has been voyaging aboard a sailboat, named Skaf and stopping in Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes, to recover the treasure chests filled with toys.

“Captains and sailors, hurry up and fill your chests, the pirate is about to set sail. The loot is intended for the children being cared for in the Lenval facility, primarily at the University Children’s Hospital. Each gift deposited is a moment of happiness for our little ones,” says the Lenval Foundation.

Toy cars, dolls, card games, arts and craft supplies, colouring books, early learning games, puzzles and more are all currently being accepted in the donation boxes, which were set up at the end of July.

“Everyone is invited to drop off a game or toy before September 7, which must be new and without gift wrapping,” said Monaco’s Town Hall in a recent press release. For hygienic reasons in relation to hospitalized children, no second-hand toys or games can be collected.

Through Les Voiles Blanches, new toys offer moments of happiness and escape to hospitalized children, bringing them a little comfort in difficult times. The charitable initiative is a resounding success every year, with last year’s 2024 edition collecting more than 1,000 toys.
