After nearly six years of closure and renovations, the Exotic Garden of Monaco will be reopened to the public on 30 March 2026. A free preview opening, reserved for Monegasque citizens and residents will take place the day before, with a performances, workshops, games, and guided visits.
In 2020, the Garden first announced its closure for renovations. Five walkways had to be reconstructed and extensive safety work had to be carried out the garden’s rock faces. The grounds in the visitor area were resurfaced, the pergolas and viewpoints were renovated, and the lighting was improved. New spaces were also created, including a children’s garden, a picnic area, a birthday room and a bar offering snacks.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene attend Reopening Ceremony
The renovations are now complete and a reopening ceremony took place on 25 March, in the presence of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. The Princess of Hanover, Mayor Georges Marsan, and several members of the Municipal Council were also present. The ceremony included a blessing by Archbishop Dominique-Marie David.
“The Municipal Council’s aim was to revitalize and modernize the Exotic Garden without losing its identity or its welcoming atmosphere. In its new configuration, it will be able to meet the public’s evolving expectations and look to the future with greater confidence,” said Mayor Georges Marsan during the ceremony.
Program of Events: Grand Reopening for Monegasques
On 29 March, a special day of events is scheduled to celebrate the Garden’s reopening. Festivities and activities for all ages begin at 9:30 am. The program includes Street Art workshops with Monegasque artist Mr. OneTeas, workshops about the plant world, a treasure hunt for children aged 7 and up, and an aerial show by the Eklabul company from 2 pm to 3 pm.
