In the beating heart of historic Monaco, the Casino Terraces combine architectural heritage with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Now, the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) has big plans to build a major real estate complex along the Casino Terraces, just below Avenue de Monte-Carlo.

The SBM plans to demolish buildings to make room for the complex, which will combine thermal baths and spas, hotel residences and luxury retail.

According to Stephane Valeri, President of the SBM, work cannot be commenced on the complex before autumn 2026 because the Rothschild bank, located on Avenue de Monte-Carlo will have to be relocated. After the bank’s relocation, the project is expected to take four years to complete.

The Casino Terraces were originally built in 1863. Currently, the space is “fully modular” and can “host up to 500 people for dinner and 1,000 people for a cocktail party and is a prime destination for a celebration,” states the SBM.

The location has hosted some of the most popular events in the Principality, including charity galas like the famous the Red Cross Ball, car exhibitions, major product launches and more. Soon, the new real estate project plans to optimize a vast land reserve, owned by the SBM.

The SBM has been very busy recently with construction and renovation projects, including the openings of Marlow, Jondal at the Vigie Monte-Carlo, the Cédric Grolet boutique at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club. Not to mention their project in Courchevel, where renovation work on the Palace des Neiges is moving forward, designed by Swiss architectural firm, Herzog & de Meuron. The Monte-Carlo One Courchevel is set to open for the 2026 winter season.

The 2030 Winter Olympics will be taking place in the French Alps, making Courchevel an Olympic resort. Meanwhile, in Monaco, the new Casino Terraces Project should be welcoming its first customers.
