An Intense and Spectacular Encounter

From the opening minutes, the tone was set, intensity, commitment, and determination. Although Mougins struck first, Monaco United soon took control of the game, dictating the pace and maintaining possession. Their efforts were rewarded late in the first half when captain for the day, Rachel Robert, scored a stunning left-footed volley from the edge of the box, a moment of brilliance that brought the score level.

At halftime, the 1–1 scoreline only partly reflected Monaco United’s dominance in the first period.

A Controlled Second Half

After the break, Monaco United took the lead and created several clear chances to widenthe gap, but Mougins managed to equalize at 2–2.The response from the Monegasques was immediate. Once again, Rachel Robert made the difference, netting her second of the match with a powerful strike into the top corner following a poorly cleared free kick.

That goal reignited Monaco United, who then took full control of the game. Buoyed by confidence, the team stepped up the tempo and added two more goals to seal a convincing 5–2 victory.

Rachel Robert:

“Mougins are a very good team, and it wasn’t easy to play against such a compact, low block with so little space to exploit. Even after conceding first, we knew we had to stay patient, take our time, and trust that our athletic and physical qualities would eventually make the difference, and that’s exactly what happened. It’s an important and well-deserved win. We know we can still do better in terms of overall play, but the main thing is, of course, the three points!”

A Team on the Rise

Against a well-organized defensive side, Monaco United showed patience, collective intelligence, and technical control. The teamwork and habits built over the past months in training, combined with the confidence gained from early successes, allowed the team to find the right solutions and earn another win.

Marco Simone:

“Yesterday’s match was interesting, especially in its first half, where the team had to adapt to a new context. It was our first home game, with a great atmosphere and a lot of expectations, which may have influenced the way we approached the match. The players were eager to perform and play attractive football, perhaps with a bit too much enthusiasm at times , but that desire is always positive. In the second half, we rediscovered our rhythm and our playing philosophy, which allowed us to score and create multiple chances. It was an encouraging match, full of valuable lessons, and a solid base to keep building on.”

Beyond the sporting aspect, this first home appearance was a moment of pride for the club’s founder. This fourth win in as many matches confirms the team’s strong momentum and the growing strength of a united group, driven by a clear ambition: to make Monegasque women’s football shine.

Next league match: Sunday in Cagnes-sur-Mer for Round 5 of the championship.
