The Principality’s Colours Rise Higher: Monaco Unveils Its Ecological Hot Air Balloon

Monaco is now home to a new emblem soaring proudly across the skies, the Monaco-Moravia hot air balloon, unveiled during the Monaco Yacht Show 2025. This debut marks the beginning of a two-year partnership between the Club des Aéronautes de Monaco and Moravia Yachting, and coincides with the announcement that H.S.H. Prince Albert II has become Honorary President of the Club.

For Alain Cruteanschii, President and Founder of the Club des Aéronautes de Monaco, the moment was deeply meaningful. Speaking to HelloMonaco, he said:

“The Sovereign’s decision to support us by accepting the Honorary Presidency filled me with joy and pride. Since the birth of the Aéronautes de Monaco 25 years ago, we have always strived to ensure our sporting activity respects nature. With this exceptional commitment, we will continue working along this path.”

Every day, 50,000 people enter and leave Monaco. And this number is expected to increase in the near future. Which is why the FEDEM proposes launching a major cross-border study on the feasibility of a modern and reliable electric metro between Nice Airport and Ventimiglia.

Twenty events are on the agenda as the Ballets de Monte-Carlo celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Galas, classic performances (like Cinderella and Romeo and Juliet) and modern choreographies are all scheduled between now and July 2026, in Monaco and abroad.

Forty years already! Is it possible? The years seem to have passed faster than a grand jeté. I remember as if it were yesterday my first creation for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo,” said Jean-Christophe Maillot, Director of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. In December 1986, Maillot choreographed his first production with Les Ballets, called Les Adieux.

The new program features performances by the company in Monaco, Italy, France, Latvia, Germany and Spain.

Monaco’s roads may be famous for gleaming Ferraris and silent Teslas, but come this fall, it’s the license plates themselves that will be getting a quiet makeover. Around 53,000 vehicles, including nearly 6,000 fully electric ones, are about to be swept into a reform designed to modernize the Principality’s registration system.

Starting September 1st through December 31st, 2025, every registered vehicle must renew its plate markings. The most visible change? That little date sandwiched between Monaco’s coat of arms and the proud “MC” symbol will disappear.
