British low-cost carrier easyJet is charting a fresh course between Nice Côte d’Azur and Funchal, the charming capital of Portugal’s Madeira archipelago. Beginning 6 June 2026, Monaco and other interested travellers will for the first time enjoy nonstop flights between these two sun-kissed destinations, a journey that, until now, required a stopover.

The service, scheduled with two weekly rotations on Tuesdays and Saturdays, promises a blend of beach escapes and adventurous getaways. Tickets are already on sale, with introductory one-way fares starting from around €40, subject to availability, making this new route both accessible and compelling for summer holidays and long-weekend explorations.

A Direct Gateway to ‘The Pearl of the Atlantic’

Madeira , crowned the “Pearl of the Atlantic” for its year-round mild climate, lush gardens, and volcanic coastline, has long been a draw for nature lovers, gourmands, and outdoor enthusiasts. From walks through verdant mountains to tasting its famed fortified wine amid historic streets, Madeira like Monaco offers a mosaic of experiences far beyond classic beach tourism.

Until now, connections from Monaco and southeastern France to the Portuguese archipelago typically involved a layover, often in Lisbon, adding hours to the journey. The direct Nice–Funchal service effectively slashes travel time, placing Madeira’s dramatic landscapes just a single flight away from Monaco and the  Côte d’Azur. Travellers can soon enjoy in edition to Monaco vistas, those of Laurisilva forest hikes in just about an hour more than it takes to drive from Monaco to Saint-Tropez.

Strategic Skies

The addition of this Atlantic corridor comes amid a broader expansion at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, which is steadily evolving into a hub of direct connections across Europe. In 2026 alone, easyJet has unveiled a slate of new routes, from the UK (Birmingham and Newcastle) to Mediterranean and Atlantic leisure hotspots, signaling a deliberate push into both business and holiday traffic.

On the Nice–Madeira axis, easyJet airline’s low-fare model directly challenges incumbent services that routed passengers via Lisbon, offering a faster and simpler alternative.

More Than a Flight: A Cultural and Tourist Bridge

Imagine a Monday morning hike along Madeira’s rugged levadas, followed by a Tuesday sunset aperitif overlooking the Mediterranean from the Principality, now stitched together by a connection that’s as direct as it is affordable.
