HSH Prince Albert II has appointed Frédéric Cottalorda as the Princely Government’s new Advisor-Minister of Finance and Economy, effective 1 April 2026. He succeeds Pierre-André Chiappori, who first took office on March 18, 2024.
“HSH the Prince wishes to express his sincere gratitude to Mr. Pierre-André Chiappori for the dedication and rigour he demonstrated throughout his tenure as head of the Department of Finance and Economy,” said the Prince’s Palace in an official press release.
Holding a Master’s degree in Economics and a Specialized Higher Studies Diploma in Wealth Management, Frédéric Cottalorda began his administrative career in April 2005 at the Financial Intelligence Unit (SICCFIN), where he held various positions, including Deputy Director until September 2013. Subsequently, he developed a consulting practice for professionals who were subject to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) obligations.
In August 2024, Frédéric Cottalorda assumed the role of Special Advisor to the Secretariat of the Department of Finance and Economy.
“Frédéric Cottalorda’s experience, both public and private sector, provides him with valuable expertise and knowledge of the challenges facing the Principality in these areas,” said the Prince’s Palace in an official press release.
Minister’s Roles and Responsibilities
Frédéric Cottalorda is now in charge of Monaco’s Finance and Economy Department, which deals with all financial and economic matters relating to the State. It has a very broad scope of action with any budgetary matter.
The Advisor-Minister of Finance and Economy is responsible for leading public policies relating to the following areas: Budget, Treasury, Economy and Trade, Tourism, Accommodation, Game Control, Innovation and new technologies, Commercial services and more.
