The World Watches Monaco: 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival Begins with Glamour and Gravitas

The 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival was officially opened under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, during the traditional Opening Ceremony held at the Grimaldi Forum, following an elegant Blue Carpet featuring international talent.

The ceremony host, Genie Godula, kicked off the evening by introducing the juries of the prestigious Golden Nymph Awards.

This year the Festival welcomes an outstanding international jury composed of distinguished personalities from across the global audiovisual landscape, including Australia, France, Spain, the United States, Canada, Germany and the United Arab Emirates.

The Fiction Jury, chaired by American actress Judith Light, includes Rachel GriffithsSarah RaffertyGabrielle LazureEriq EbouaneyBrendan Fitzgerald and John Reardon.

The News & Documentaries Jury is chaired by renowned French journalist Mireille Dumas, alongside Mohammed Al-HamadiGabi BiesingerDaniel Karslake and Diego Buñuel.

Their expertise and professional backgrounds reflect diverse perspectives on today’s television landscape.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco then officially declared the 64th edition of the Festival open, in the presence of an audience of industry professionals, creators, journalists and television fans from around the world.

The International Golden Nymph for Most Promising Talent was awarded to Jaz Sinclair, acclaimed for her powerful performance in the series Gen V and for her promising international career.

Celebrated French actor Pierre Arditi received the prestigious Crystal Nymph Award in tribute to his outstanding television career. A major figure in the French-speaking audiovisual industry, he has long embodied a television style that is both refined and widely accessible.

The evening continued with the presentation of the series Watson, produced by CBS Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. American actor Morris Chestnut, known for his acclaimed roles in hit series such as The Resident and Rosewood, took to the stage before the screening to speak with host Genie Godula.

Premiering in France, Watson is a medical drama with a strong investigative edge. It offers a modern take on one of history’s greatest detectives — now focused not on solving crimes, but on unravelling medical mysteries.
