“Working closely with the population, the Civil Registry and Nationality Service assists citizens throughout their lives: births, marriages, deaths… every significant event for Monegasque citizens or foreign nationals born, married, or deceased in the Principality is recorded in registers – the oldest dating back to the 16th century!” says Monaco’s City Hall.

The Principality recorded 732 births in 2025, up slightly compared to the 721 babies born in 2024 (but much lower than the 804 births in 2023). Almost half of all babies were born to unmarried parents. Nearly all births took place at the Princess Grace Hospital.

In 2025, there were more boys (404) born than girls (328). (In 2024, boys were also in the majority.) Here is the list of Monaco’s top five baby names for each gender.

Most unions involving Monegasque nationals were with international partners. Only four marriages joined two Monegasques.
