Traffic detours and restrictions will be in place during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Monaco on the 7th and 8th of June, as well as during roadworks on the A500 tunnel on weekday nights until July 4, 2025.

A500 roadworks

On Monday, June 2, Vinci Autoroutes began resurfacing the A500 in the town of La Turbie. Nearly 3 km of asphalt is being renovated in both directions, starting at the exit of the Monaco interchange (No. 56), including the toll platform and the Monaco tunnel.

The work is taking place from Monday to Friday night, from 8:30pm until 5:30am, requiring the closure of the A500 during these times until July 4. Detours will be put in place during these times.

Towards Italy and Monaco, vehicles will have to stay on the A8 to reach the Roquebrune-Cap-Martin/Monaco Est interchange (No. 58). Vehicles travelling towards Monaco via the A500 can leave the A8 by taking the La Turbie interchange (No. 57) then the RD 2204a, the RD 2564 and the RD37. Heavy goods vehicles will have to use the exit ramp from the Nice Est interchange (no. 55).

Towards Nice, vehicles will have to follow the RD37 via the RD6007 to reach the La Turbie interchange (no. 57). Heavy goods vehicles will have to take the RM6007 via the RD 6007.

Vehicle Traffic during President Macron’s visit

On Saturday June 7, between 6am and 8pm and on Sunday 8 June, between 6am and 5pm, Avenue Princesse Grace will be closed to traffic in both directions between the Portier roundabout and the Rose des Vents roundabout (access remains in place via Rose des Vents only and for residents along ‘Ruelle St Jean’ and at ‘Emilie Palace’, ‘La Réserve’, ‘Houston Palace’ and ‘Columbia Palace’).

Depending on the delegation’s journeys, there may be regular traffic disruptions within these same periods on different routes in all affected areas, particularly between Monaco-Ville, Monte-Carlo, and Larvotto.

On Sunday, June 8, from 12.30pm to 4pm, Boulevard Louis II will be closed to all traffic (including pedestrian) between the Portier roundabout and the Pattaya turning point.

Access to the Louis II car park and the “Monte-Carlo Star” will be prohibited during these closure periods.

Pedestrian and bus traffic will also be disrupted along lower section of Avenue Princesse Grace and Boulevard Louis II, with planned detours in place.
