Prince Albert II inaugurated the Green Shift Festival on the Larvotto promenade on June 4.
The free event, supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, combines ecology, culture and civic engagement. Workshops, artistic performances wellness activities, community booths and environmental innovations were showcased by artists, scientists and activists during the festive event.
Princesse Charlene and Princess Grace’s portraits are Unveiled in Monaco’s Town Hall
In the wedding room of Monaco’s Town Hall, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene unveiled two new portraits in the presence of Mayor Georges Marsan and several members of the municipal council, on June 2. The portrait of Princess Charlene was created with gouache on paper in 2013 by South African artist Stefne Van Zyl, who was present at the unveiling. The portrait of Princess Grace is an oil painting on canvas by Paul Werner Sochtig. Both portraits are on loan from the Princely Palace. They now join paintings of Prince Charles III, Prince Albert I, Prince Louis II, Prince Rainier III and Prince Albert II. Princess Charlene’s portrait faces that of her husband, while Princess Grace’s portrait faces that of Prince Rainier III.
Prince Albert II attends the first European summit of Women Business Leaders hosted in Monaco
Prince Albert II attended the first European summit of Women Business Leaders hosted by Monaco, on June 2 in the Méridien Beach Plaza’s convention centre. Monaco’s branch of the FCEM (Women Business Leaders of the World association, first created in 1945) welcomed sixteen national delegations from across Europe and beyond.
Held under the high patronage of Prince Albert II, the event highlighted the role and commitment of women in business. The objective for this first Monegasque edition was to open a space for European cooperation. Women entrepreneurs shared their stories throughout the event. Guests included Sabine Calba, director of Banque Populaire Méditerranée and Christine Pasquier Ciulla, President of the Legislation Committee at the National Council.
Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II Holiday in Venice
The Princely couple travelled to Venice for a short holiday, creating a buzz on social media Instagram account for ‘Tour Leader Treviso’, a travel company offering private English-language tours in Venice, shared photos of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene after spotting them at the Venice train station.
“Today in Venice, at Santa Lucia train station, we had 2 very special guests: HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife Charlene Wittstock. They were at the train station, ready to get on a train at the end of their Venetian holiday. As you can see, they looked amazing, but above all, they have been really nice, polite and respectful with everybody. At the station, they took some time to share moments with journalists and paparazzi, and they took some pics and signed some pics. That’s the real majesty! Thanks Prince, thanks Princess! See you next time in Venice!”
Prince’s Palace unveils the name of Monaco’s New Minister of State
The Prince’s Palace announced the appointment of a new Minister of State, effective July 4, in a recent press release. Philippe Mettoux, who is currently a member of the Council of State, will become the head of the Prince’s government.
“The Prince expresses his deep gratitude to Madame Isabelle Berro-Amadei for having assured, with dedication and efficiency, the interim functions of Minister of State for nearly six months, while continuing her duties as Government Advisor-Minister of External Relations and Cooperation,” states the press release from the Prince’s Palace.
Philippe Mettoux began his career as a prosecutor in several French courts. In 2000, he became the head of the Directorate of Criminal Affairs and Pardons in the French Ministry of Justice and the Central Service for the Prevention of Corruption. He held the title of Advisor to the Prime Minister for Justice from 2005 to 2007 before joining the French Council of State.
Prince Albert II and Pierre Casiraghi launch Malizia Explorer’s Scientific Odyssey
The Malizia Explorer, a Monegasque oceanographic research vessel, was christened in the presence of Prince Albert II and under the leadership of Pierre Casiraghi at the Yacht Club de Monaco on Friday, June 6. Sylvia Earle, the legendary 89-year-old oceanographer and global figure in marine exploration, officially christened the ship in front of 80 guests.


The Malizia Explorer is a 26-metre aluminum sailboat, designed to travel from polar regions to tropical zones, which can accommodate four crew members and up to eight scientists. On board is cutting-edge technology for continuous data collection and deep-sea sampling. All valuable tech for the ships’s five-year adventure, with the goal of “giving a voice to the ocean”. The boat is currently making a stop at the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice.
