Monaco United continues to impress. The team from the Principality has just secured a new series of three consecutive wins, without conceding a single goal. This remarkable momentum highlights the growing strength of the squad and the cohesion of a group fully focused on its objectives.

Following a crucial victory against Carros, Monaco United carried their momentum into three well-managed matches. The first leg of this streak took place in the Mediterranean Cup, with an away game against FC Lambescain. Spending the day together as a full squad, including players and staff, strengthened team bonds and reinforced an already strong mindset. On the pitch, this translated into a polished performance, a magnificent victory, and, most importantly, a well-deserved qualification for the quarter-finals of the Mediterranean Cup. “The match against Carros was a turning point, both mentally and sportingly. Winning that decisive first game kickstarted our season and freed us to deliver great performances.”

Marco Simone, President and Head Coach of Monaco United Women’s Football Club.

The following weekend marked the return to league play, where the team had to confirm their strong form to extend their lead at the top of the standings. Mission accomplished with a resounding victory over AS Moulins. Monaco United triumphed 25-0, a match that further fueled their positive momentum and brought them to a symbolic milestone: 100 goals scored in the league this season.

Monaco United WFC – Villeneuve-Loubet: A Display of Mastery

This momentum had to be confirmed on Sunday, February 8, in a crucial clash against Villeneuve-Loubet, also high in the league standings. The team approached the match with maximum focus against a well-organized and defensively strong side, as shown in the first meeting, which had been closely contested.

At home, Stade Didier-Deschamps, Monaco United rose to the occasion. The match began at a high intensity, with early dominance and strong possession from the hosts. Despite numerous duels and a fast-paced start, the opening goal came quickly. Marina Makanza broke through and soon completed a second goal, giving Monaco United an early 2-0 lead. An ideal start to impose their rhythm against a team known for its defensive solidity—the second-best defense in the league behind Monaco United. Two more goals before halftime allowed the team to go into the break with a commanding 4-0 advantage, providing calm and control heading into the second half.

The team did not relax. A fifth goal confirmed their dominance after the break, followed by a sixth late in the game, concluding a second half also perfectly managed.

Final score: 6-0 in favor of Monaco United. “In a match expected to be difficult, we faced a very compact and even more aggressive defensive block than in the first leg. Despite a few mistakes, the girls stayed true to our playing philosophy, which is now fully part of the team’s DNA,” said Marco Simone.

This sentiment is shared by Meryl Cirri, a key player in the victory. “We faced a team that had prepared well, particularly defensively. It took some time to adapt and find openings, but gradually spaces appeared.” The experienced defender emphasized the patience required to bypass the opposing organization and create the right opportunities, which the forwards capitalized on perfectly. Beyond the result, this victory confirms a telling statistic: a third consecutive match without conceding a goal. While the attack proves deadly, the defense also demonstrates exemplary solidity against opponents’ attempts. “I feel great in this group. We enjoy being together, and it shows. On the pitch, we’re not conceding goals at the moment, which is very positive for our defensive line. There’s only positivity, and it’s a joy to be part of this team,” says Meryl Cirri.

Upcoming Schedule:

The coming weeks promise exciting challenges. Next Sunday, Monaco United will play a friendly in Corsica against AS Pietrosella, a valuable opportunity to maintain rhythm and face a team different from those typically encountered in the region. This match will also serve as preparation for hosting AS Fontonne Antibes on February 22 at Stade Didier-Deschamps for the quarter-finals of the Paul Marenco Cup, a competition reserved for district Côte d’Azur clubs.

Finally, a significant challenge awaits the Monégasques on March 1, with the quarter- finals of the Mediterranean Cup. The draw has scheduled an away match against FC Rousset, a team competing two divisions above them. A massive test for Marco Simone’s players, who are preparing with seriousness and ambition.

In the league, Monaco United remains firmly at the top, moving full speed toward its goals. “Our ambitions remain unchanged: to win the league, aim for promotion through the playoffs, and go as far as possible in cup competitions. This requires constant focus, as nothing is guaranteed. We are doing great things, but the true assessment will come at the end of the season…”
