Albert I Grand Medals award ceremony 2022-2023

On Wednesday, November 22, follow the award ceremony of the Albert I Grand Medals, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Albert I Grand Medals is a distinction given for the service to the Ocean and the most prestigious prize awarded by the Oceanographic Institute. Every year, the Oceanographic Institute rewards the big names in the French or international marine world, those who, through their research, their passion and their courage, work to make the ocean known, loved and protected.

The winners are distinguished in 2 categories:

• the “science” section rewards a qualified researcher in the field of oceanography for specific work or an exceptional discovery;
• the “mediation” section highlights the commitment of people working to make the oceans known, loved and protected.

Created on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Prince Albert I in 1948, the Great Medal symbolizes the heritage transmitted by this Visionary Prince.
