Collective intelligence

“Collective intelligence” installation by Florian Schönerstedt and the elementary school students of Monaco is held on from 2 to 4 October 2026 at 2 pm in Villa Paloma.

The Nouveau Musée Numérique is a creation and mediation program launched in November 2020. Each year, in collaboration with Extended Monaco, this project reaches out to students and teachers in the Principality through a series of workshops that allow them to explore the challenges faced by a museum—and in particular those of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco—as well as its collections and the works they contain.

During the 2025–2026 school year, the artist Florian Schönerstedt worked with 4th and 5th-grade classes (CM1-CM2) in the Principality. Drawing inspiration from the Madeleine de Galéa doll collection—held by the museum since the late 1960s—the students wrote scripts and designed storyboards to produce short, AI-generated films. This project reinvented the tradition of children’s play in the digital age, without delegating their imagination to artificial intelligence.

Titled “Collective Intelligence,” the installation presented in the Table des Matières on the ground floor of Villa Paloma brings together the entire corpus created by the students. Their stories intersect and intertwine within a virtual space orchestrated by Florian Schönerstedt.

This permutation of narratives takes direct inspiration from Hundred Thousand Billion Poems (1961), Raymond Queneau’s interactive book of combinatory poetry that the students discovered during the workshops. Much like this “book-object,” this digital creation project is conceived as a “film-object” born from a collective intelligence.
