Cycling Sunday on 8 August in Monaco

August 8, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Cycling Sunday

With previous Cycling Sundays having enjoyed huge success, the Prince’s Government is keen to offer regular repeats of this fun event aimed at young and old alike.

The next Cycling Sunday will therefore take place on 8 August, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., on the lower part of the F1 Grand Prix circuit. Consequently, the roads involved (Bd Albert I, Bd JF Kennedy, Route de la Piscine) will be completely closed to traffic.

Events will also be taking place on Route de la Piscine (opposite the Brasserie de Monaco).

The Police Department will be organising an educational trail for cyclists, while the Monegasque Road Safety Association will be raising awareness about the risks associated with alcohol consumption.

The Union Cycliste de Monaco (Monaco Cycling Union) will supplement these activities with cycling workshops for the youngest riders, and will offer information about safely sharing the road.

The Monabike service, managed by the Monegasque Bus Company (CAM), will be available for anyone to use, free of charge. The Principality’s traders will also be making electric scooters and bikes available for people to try out.

For everyone’s safety, please note that all under 18s must wear a helmet when riding bikes or scooters.

This event, organised by the Department of the Environment with support from Club VE and Monaco City Hall, will fully comply with health regulations and barrier measures.

Finally, it will require some diversions to local and intercity bus routes in the area and restrictions on car traffic, with several streets closed completely from 2.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This affects:

–          Boulevard Albert I
–          Rocher Tunnel, Fontvieille towards Boulevard Albert I
–          Avenue J.F. Kennedy from the Place Sainte Dévote roundabout to Quai des États-Unis (Pattaya turning area) and vice versa
–          Route de la Piscine
–          Quai Antoine I
