Feast of the Immaculate Conception

December 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

A pontifical mass celebrate the Immaculate Conception this Monday, December 8, at 6:00 p.m. in Monaco Cathedral by Archbishop Dominique-Marie David of Monaco.

As is customary, during this service, the vow made by Prince Honoré II in 1631 on behalf of the population, thanking the Virgin Mary for freeing Monaco from the plague epidemic, will be renewed.

The mass will be followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the Rock, passing in front of the Prince’s Palace, escorted by the penitents of the Archconfraternity of Mercy.

Since last year, this event has taken on a special significance with the participation of the Prince’s Carabiniers Orchestra, which accompanies both the mass and the procession. Furthermore, during the procession in the Palace Square, in addition to the customary blessing of the Nativity Scene Trail, a special blessing from the Archbishop will be given for the Palace barracks and, through them, for all the Prince’s Carabiniers and their families. This demonstrates the Prince’s Carabiniers’ attachment to the mother church of the diocese, the cathedral, and in turn, the diocese’s affection for those whose mission is the protection of the Sovereign and the Princely Family.

Let us not forget that the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is also the patronal feast of the cathedral, mother church of the diocese and of the Archconfraternity of Mercy.

Mass will be broadcast live at 6:00 p.m. on Monaco Info and the diocese’s social media channels.
